  3. 'We just want to enjoy it' - Mickelsonpublished at 21:55 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Phil Mickelson speaking to Iain Carter: "Captain Stricker has done a really good job - he had a good game plan and they've played a lot of great golf.

On a new generation: "Certainly that's the hope but right now we just want to enjoy it.

"Tonight will be their first chance to let down their guard."

Phil Mickelson on his role as the vice-captain: "My role has been very enjoyable to experience a Ryder Cup without as much pressure and anxiety as a player."

  4. Poulter restores three-hole leadpublished at 21:54 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    Finau v Poulter 3UP (15)

Ian Poulter, one on a very limited list of possible European winners today, goes dormie after dropping in a lovely putt from 15 feet.

    All very subdued back there.

  5. 'A full team effort'published at 21:54 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

Let's hear from Collin Morikawa after he got the winning half a point to confirm the USA as Ryder Cup winners.

Morikawa told Sky Sports: "It was a full team effort, everyone contributed, everyone put in their full efforts to make sure this team was going to play well and coming out on top feels really good.

"You can feel the fans, you really take that energy and having the home crowd advantage was huge this week, it was so nice to have that on our side."

    1UP Koepka v Wiesberger (16)

Brooks Koepka with the most amazing tee shot on the par three 17th - he has lipped out for a hole in one, and he will be conceded a birdie - he goes one up.

Basically... Bernd Wiesberger has to get a hole in one. Great shot but not as good - takes the slope and finishes about 25 feet away from the hole.

All set for the big moment on the 18th.

Not quite the finish Morikawa wanted but it doesn’t matter.

The scoreboard on the last clicks over to the magical number.

Celebratory cheers fill the stifling warm air before the 18th and ninth grandstands share choreographed chants of U-S-A.

  8. USA win the Ryder Cup!published at 21:51 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    Morikawa A/S Hovland (F)

Collin Morikawa can't win his match with Viktor Hovland, but that half a point means USA have won the Ryder Cup!

Hovland played that hole beautifully, but when he missed a birdie putt then Morikawa had the chance to win it by holing out. He misses, but although that costs him a full point it confirms the victory for the Americans.

They get to that magical number by opening up a 14½-6 ½ lead to make sure the Ryder Cup will stay in the USA this time around.

And with plenty more points to come...

Jubilant doesn’t quite cover it. Goosebump-inducing atmosphere on 18.

Morikawa is the coolest man in the place. Unmoved as he knocks his chip close.

“Are you kidding me?” shouts one fan.

    Exactly.

  10. DJ misses chance to win itpublished at 21:48 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    1UP Johnson v Casey (17)

Casey lags up nicely from 43 feet and leaves Johnson with a putt to win the Ryder Cup - and it misses!

They halve the 17th hole in three and go down the 18th with Johnson 1UP but not with the honour of winning the trophy - looks like it could be Collin Morikawa to do that on 18.

  11. 'We have to accept they were better'published at 21:47 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Sergio Garcia speaking to Iain Carter: "Don't get me wrong I would have liked to start better, I should have played a tiny bit better on those four or five holes.

"Back nine I played well and but unfortunately I was a little too far back and he played well."

On the crowd: "At the end of the day it's fine - we know what we're doing - we've played in situations like this.

"Unfortunately they were a little better than we were. We've got to accept that and we've got to get ready for Rome and try to get it back.

"Those key moments was where they turned the momentum - we never really had them and at an event like this you need those moments."

On Jon Rahm: "He's an amazing player and I'm very proud of him and he should be very proud of himself.

"We'll keep working hard and we'll have another chance in two years."

After watching Morikawa sink that putt on 17 - and effectively seal the Ryder Cup - DeChambeau bounded down the rope high-fiving fans.

Watch yourself there, Brys. Loads of steep sand dunes. He doesn’t care.

“LET’S GO! COME ON BABY!!” he shouts.

Lapping it up like a rock star.

  14. Hatton pulls one backpublished at 21:42 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    3UP Thomas v Hatton (14)

And after that, Tyrrell Hatton sinks a superb putt of his own from distance to take the hole!

  15. Postpublished at 21:41 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    4UP Thomas v Hatton (13)

Superb bunker shot from Justin Thomas, clipping out of the sand and on to the smooth stuff at 15 to leave himself a potential putt to clinch the Ryder Cup... it wheels left and winds back a touch but does so too late.

  16. Casey keeps fightingpublished at 21:40 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    1UP Johnson v Casey (16)

Fair play to Paul Casey for dragging this one out - as we've seen from Rory McIlroy these Europeans really care and the manner of this defeat will really sting.

Pride means more to these guys than most people think and you can't accuse the European team of now trying their hearts out this week.

Casey played that hole brilliantly to eagle it, win it, and keep Johnson honest.

  17. Stunner from Collinpublished at 21:37 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    1UP Morikawa v Hovland (17)

Luckily for Morikawa the 17th is a par three so he can get to work with his irons, and he does so in stunning fashion as it lands short right, gets a nice bounce through the fringe then catches a slope and runs all the way down to a foot or two.

Hovland is a mile away on the green and although he makes a fine effort of it he can't make it and when Morikawa taps in then he goes 1UP with just one hole to play.

Now, can Hovland scrap to a half?

It was amazing to see Rory [McIlroy] that emotional - and hopefully he can come back and do it.

    4UP Thomas v Hatton (13)

If you're a US fan you're probably loving Justin Thomas this week, if you're a European he might just have riled you. The American has a chance to move five up on Tyrrell Hatton with five to play, but misses a birdie putt you'd have fancied him to sink on current form. Instead he drops almost to his knees. Hatton needs some quick...
