  1. Fleetwood seals itpublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

    Fleetwood bt Fowler 3&1

It was Tommy Fleetwood's tee shot that essentially won the Ryder Cup but he wants to rubberstamp it.

He's absolutely lasered his next shot off the tee on 17. Inside three feet.

    A tap-in birdie.

    Signed. Sealed. Delivered.

Theo: Europe win the Ryder Cup!!! Get in… richly deserved. Credit to the US who showed some resistance today

Even Luke Donald has cracked! That shows how much this means to him and Team Europe.

He describes it as the best moment of his career. Quite the statement from a former world number one.

    Full quotes on their way.

  4. MacIntyre back in frontpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

    1UP MacIntyre v Clark (15)

Robert MacIntyre hits a wonderful wedge from 30 feet with all kinds of swazz on the ball and it skips and stands to attention just three feet away.

Wyndham Clark then misses from seven feet - as has been the story of this match - to hand the Scotsman the hole. The Ryder Cup has been won but MacIntyre didn't know that when he played that shot.

  5. Postpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

    1UP Lowry v Spieth (17)

A straight shootout with the pair of short sticks on the 17th.

Lowry goes inside Spieth with the wedge and if the Irishman lands this putt then he will also be assured of at least half a point.

He's only gone and done it!!

Absolute bedlam on Marco Simone as Lowry celebrates with vigour. Someone lob him a can!

  6. Thomas sees it outpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

    Thomas bt Straka 2&1

Up on 18, Sepp Straka splashes himself out of the sand and gives himself 23 feet.

It's a solid effort but falls short and he hands the hole - and the match - over to Justin Thomas.

The two-time major winner has got his point, but he's not taking home a golden cup.

  7. Europe are going to win the Ryder Cup!published at 16:04 British Summer Time 1 October 2023
    Breaking

Arms aloft, Tommy Fleetwood is taking the acclaim of the massed ranks on the 16th green.

He's rolled his putt to within three feet and Rickie Fowler concedes.

Fleetwood goes two up with two to play to guarantee a half. And that'll be the half point Europe need to win it.

It ain't official till it's over.

    But everyone can relax now.

    1UP Fleetwood v Fowler (16)

More than that from Tommy Fleetwood - what a majestic tee shot from the Englishman.

Onto the green and an ideal look at eagle.

  9. Postpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

    MacIntyre v Clark A/S (14)

Both men are short of the green with their second shots, and now it's a pitch off with shots of 30-40 yards remaining for this pair.

    It's tense this isn't it!

  10. Postpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

    Lowry v Spieth A/S (16)

Lowry's honour on the 17th... he goes for the draw on the par three but he's overdone it.

Down in the valley on the left. That's the bad news for Team Europe.

The good news? Jordan Spieth does the exact same thing. Wow.

  11. How are the nerves?published at 16:01 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

    Europe 14 USA 10

Europe are going to win this, aren't they??

    Hit the thumbs.

  12. Fowler finds the waterpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

    1UP Fleetwood v Fowler (16)

Those words of encouragement from Zach Johnson have not worked at all.

Rickie Fowler has absolutely shanked his tee shot and flushed it right into the water off 16.

Surely Tommy Fleetwood just needs to keep it in play?

  13. Postpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

    Straka v Thomas 1UP (17)

If he takes a glance over, Sepp Straka will see Justin Thomas languishing in the bunker.

The Austrian has a perfect angle into the green from 284 yards - but the flag is horribly pinned up against the water on the left

Team Europe are watching as he takes aim.

He goes right - we've seen that a lot - and it's in the greenside bunker. The plot thickens.

  14. Postpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

    Lowry v Spieth A/S (16)

What a touch from Shane Lowry - and what a time to do it.

From the bunker on 16, Lowry splashes out and rolls his ball within a few feet of the flag.

    Low tens for his caddie.

Jordan Spieth is sat in the thicker stuff on the left, grass like a long pile rug.

He's duffed it! Incredible. Spieth can't chip in at the second attempt and with Lowry safely in for three that's the hole.

All square with two to play.

  15. ‘I don’t need to be paid to wear this’published at 15:54 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

    Steve Sutcliffe
BBC Sport at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club, Rome

Rory McIlroy has just strolled back up the 18th to an ovation from the European fans after his 3&1 win over Sam Burns earlier.

Asked to wave his Europe hat, the Northern Irishman obliged, taking it off and saying,”I don’t need to be paid to wear this.”

Seems like Saturday night’s events are still a cause of ire for him.

  16. Fleetwood misses chance to extend leadpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

    1UP Fleetwood v Fowler (15)

A grimace from Tommy Fleetwood tells the story as he scoots his putt by and Rickie Fowler polishes off in two.

Zach Johnson meets his captain's pick on the green and gives him a quick word of encouragement as they head to 16.

Plenty of jeopardy left in those final three.

  17. What a miss!published at 15:53 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

    MacIntyre v Clark A/S (14)

Oh no! Robert MacIntyre misses from less than two feet to halve the hole and now his match with US Open champion Wyndham Clark is all square after 14.

Those putting demons have risen again for the Scotsman at the worst possible time, and from three-up at one stage he's level as Europe continue to chase that elusive half point they need to win the Ryder Cup.

  19. Thomas in troublepublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

    Straka v Thomas 1UP (17)

First job Sepp Straka is to club this down the fairway off 18 and turn the heat up on Justin Thomas.

He does just that and attention turns to the hatless Justin Thomas.

He false starts but then whips it left and it's in the fairway bunker, up against the face. That'll test the two-time major winner.

  20. Postpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

    1UP Fleetwood v Fowler (15)

Brilliant from Tommy Fleetwood at 15 as he teases in an iron approach to get a nine-foot birdie chance.

Rickie Fowler does the best he can from a fairway bunker, reaching the putting surface but it's a looong way off.
