The Lir Jet's trainer Michael Bell: "When he won at Yarmouth he won easily but today he had to learn how to race and that bodes well for the future

"He is all speed and will definitely get six furlongs but not much further

The sire won on soft ground so we were hopeful about the ground. He's one of those lucky horses who goes on everything."

After the win at Yarmouth, The Lir Jet was bought by Qatar Racing and will be ridden by champion jockey Oisin Murphy.

Dandella's trainer Karl Burke: "She's not slow but there is plenty of stamina on the dam side.

"You could say the ground has exaggerated the distance but time will tell.

"Today's race has been the plan for a while so we will sit down and see what happens next."

Winning jockey Ben Curtis: "It's brilliant. this is the first year I came here with a realistic chance of a winner and it's great.

"We knew she had speed and I was keen to get a lead but she went away and demolished them

"Our worry coming here was the ground but she has shown she is versatile and has won impressively."

Technican, who was sent off second favourite for Thursday's Gold Cup, has been retired after suffering a tendon injury.

Trainer Martin Meade told the Press Association: "There's no future trying to repair it, so we'll have to make alternative plans for him now. Hopefully he can go to stud, but I'm afraid that will be his last race."

Dandalla moved clear and gives jockey Ben Curtis his first Royal Ascot win, and a second for trainer Karl Burke.

Setarhe had been well supported before the off, but started slowly and came with a late run for second, but was never in danger of troubling the winner.
