Judging by their body language, the Armagh players looked very relaxed as they sat in the Gerry Arthurs Stand to take in some of the Ulster Ladies Championship match between their native county and Cavan.

There were plenty of smiles and acknowledgements as the nearby Orchard fans welcomed their heroes.

In particular, Conor Turbitt and James Morgan were positively beaming although star forward Rian O'Neill was more poker-faced as he was directed to his seat.

The Armagh ladies had scored six goals by half-time against the opposition. Two or three in the entire 70 minutes would surely do the Orchard men just fine today.

  4. Gallagher steps back as Derry bosspublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Armagh v Derry (throw-in 16:00 BST)

The build-up to Sunday's final has been dominated by serious allegations of domestic violence made against Derry manager Rory Gallagher by his wife Nicola Gallagher.

On Friday, Gallagher said in a statement that he was stepping back from his role with immediate effect.

On Thursday, he said the allegations against him have been investigated and dealt with by the relevant authorities.

The Public Prosecution Service has said that it had received two investigation files from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).

Having considered the evidence in the files the PPS determined that there was insufficient evidence to provide a reasonable prospect of conviction for any offence in relation to any individual.

Ciaran Meenagh has stepped in to take on the role of Derry manager for Sunday's final.

  5. The stage is setpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Armagh v Derry (16:00 BST)

So, the stage is set then for the 2023 Ulster Senior Football Championship final.

They said the revamped nature of the provincial competitions might dilute their relevance, but there hasn't been much evidence of that in the quest for the Anglo-Celt Cup.

For Derry, their aim is to continue the revival that saw them win a first Ulster title in 24 years last summer when they caused shockwaves on their way to an unlikely success.

For Armagh, meanwhile, it is an ongoing bid to end a wait for Ulster glory that now stretches back 15 years to 2008.

Both teams had relatively comfortable semi-final victories, with Derry dispatching Monaghan and Armagh cruising past Down, but you sense a much tighter affair is on the cards in today's decider at Clones.
