BBC swimming & diving expert on BBC Radio 5 live
I look back to the time and financial sacrifice my family made. Like Adam Peaty said that's the case from such a young age. It's not just that person in the pool it's the support that helps develop the athlete.
Spain suffer shock defeat to Croatia
Another shock tonight in basketball as European champions Spain were edged out in a thrilling 72-70 victory for Croatia at the Rio Centro arena.
Spain led for the entire first half but the Croatians fought back in the third quarter to take the lead as they scored two three-pointers in quick succession.
Spain rallied back in the closing minutes to trail by one point but a pair of free-throws sealed Croatia's first Olympic win since 2008.
Phelps o'clock
It will be *soon time, ladies and gentlemen, for the greatest.
Yep, the great Michael Phelps will be in action this evening as he goes for a ridiculous 19th gold medal.
He has just been confirmed in the US team in the men's 4x100m freestyle relay. That gets under way at 03:53 BST.
*Not soon. Ten to four!
Women's 100m butterfly
The night's first final in the pool sees Sarah Sjostrom as the runaway favourite to win the 100m butterfly (02:03 BST).
The Swede - coached by Englishman Carl Jenner - is the world champion and is tipped to break the world record this evening.
Murray/Murray v Thomaz/Sa
BBC Radio 5 Live
Great Britain Davis Cup doubles player Dom Inglot:
"I think the Murrays will win. Andy is not firing as much as he can. They will ask more questions as the match progresses.
"Jamie is playing a little better. We'll see how they respond."
It's 5-5 in the first set.
Swimming
It's just over an hour until the swimming finals get going.
It's safe to say Adam Peaty is probably the most famous Olympian to hail from Uttoxeter.
The 100m breaststroke world record holder, who goes for gold in the pool at 02:53 BST, was born and raised in the Staffordshire market town.
"We’ve never seen support like it," Burton Mail journalist Kit Sandeman, external told BBC Sport.
"One local company has managed to put ‘come on, Adam’ signs on every welcome to Uttoxeter sign.
"I watched him win his heat with his family. The belief the family have – I’ve never seen anything like it. There was never any doubt he was going to win the gold medal.
"The new sports centre, where he learnt to swim, is named after him.
"If we had a story saying ‘what’s Adam had for breakfast’ it would do well. We had a special edition cut-out front page that people could put up on their windows. The whole town is crazy for him."
Men's 56kg
Long Qingquan lifted 170kg in the clean and jerk. That's nearly 27 stone!
And he only weighs 55.68kg. Amazing.
Ant-man.
Men's 56kg weightlifting
China's Long Qingquan has won the men's 56kg with a world record 307kg combined score.
Men's 100m breaststroke final (02:53 BST)
Team GB synchronised swimmer Katie Clark's family will be watching the BBC action.
Will Peaty win Britain's first gold of this Games?
Williams sisters out of women's doubles
"It was what it was. We have a chance to compete for our country and did the best that we can. We had a blast out there," said Serena after her and sister Venus' hopes of a fourth gold were dashed by Lucie Safarova and Barbora Strycova in the first round.
"I wouldn't say it was devastating. It was a lot of fun and we will always remember these moments and these matches. At the end of the day, I think that's what matters most."
Venus said she and Serena will now focus on the US Open later this month. "It was not our best day. We like to have a chance to play our way into the tournament," said Venus. "But we came up against a very strong team."
The Murray brothers are not having this their own way. Not at all.
It's still on serve at 3-3 in the opening set as Andre Sa conjures up a wonderful cross-court lob. That's got the partisan crowd roaring.
A brief moment of confusion for the world's media as the international broadcast centre is evacuated. False alarm. Did we miss anything?
[NOPE]

You have left yourself absolutely no room for error there Nic! He'll be in the blocks at 02:50!
The Murrays in action
It's gone with serve so far, Jamie and Andy Murray 2-1 up.
Peaty goes for gold (02:53 BST)
Ladies and gentleman, let us introduce you to Olympic Nan.
Mavis Williams is the grandmother of 100m breaststroke world record holder Adam Peaty, who's going for gold in the pool later on.
She's supporting her grandson from her home in Staffordshire and is an avid tweeter/emoji user.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live earlier, Mavis said: "He knows I’m proud because I’m always putting it on Twitter. Caroline [Adam Peaty's mum] took me to London 2012 and to Scotland to see him – that was my holiday.
"She had to phone me because I said: ‘I can’t get this telly on'. I couldn’t get the red button going. Then I thought I know what I can do – my iPad. So I got the BBC up on my iPad and I watched it on there.
"Since I’ve been going to watch Adam, it’s given me a new life, a different life, that I never dreamed of. I’ve loved every minute of it. I can’t wait for tonight."

Men's 100m breaststroke final (02:53 BST)
Adam Peaty is hoping to become not only Britain's first medal winner of Rio 2016, but the first gold medal winner when he goes in the 100m breaststroke final later.
BBC's Clare Balding caught up with the 21-year-old's girlfriend and parents.
Girlfriend Anna Zair: I saw him the day or night before he left for Rio - quite a while ago. Hopefully he'll find us in the crowd because we've got quite a few banners.
Father Mark: It's fantastic what he's done. I hope he gets a medal of any sort.
Mum Caroline: Adam started swimming because we pushed him into swimming lessons. At the seaside he was just a rock-pooler - he wouldn't go into the sea. Now he's completely different.
