She had us all worried but GB's Ellie Downie came back out to compete on vault after a sore fall on her neck during her floor routine.

"I heard a crunch and they put me in a wheelchair. But there was no way I didn't want to continue," she said after sticking 14.833 on vault to help the team to third place and into the final with only five more teams to go. Top eight going to the final.

The wriggling and writhing of fencing is almost like a larger than life thumb war. I know I'm not doing the sport justice there.

Richard Kruse launches a mini comeback to go on to nine points, but Alexander Massialas is on 13 and two points away from victory.

The Malaysian pair duff their fourth dive somewhat - and that opens the door once more for a bronze medal.

Can Rebecca Gallantree and Alicia Blagg take advantage? Their medal hopes look to have gone. They score 64.8 to fall to sixth - but they are just four points off a medal place! That is nothing.

The gold is almost certainly going to China. Textbook. They lead by 25 points with one dive left.

Richard Kruse has been getting joy on the shoulder of Alexander Massialas and a flick of the wrist puts him back in the points.

He can't close that gap significantly though and trails 10-6.

I bet you never thought you'd be spending your Sunday night gripped by fencing and diving. Olympics, eh?

Richard Kruse has been a bit suffocated by his American opponent at the end of the first period and he trails 8-4.

Remember, it's first to 15 or the highest score after three periods. A period lasts three minutes.

GB's Rebecca Gallantree and Alicia Blagg's third dive is slightly off - they are now level fourth with 162 points. Still in medal contention...

Britain’s Lizzie Armitstead, mud splattered on her face, speaks about finishing fifth: “I did exactly what I wanted to do on the climb; I didn’t panic and knew I couldn’t follow the best climbers up there.

"I didn’t give up. It’s something I’ve been working on for months now and I knew what I had in the legs - I did as best as I could.”

Asked how she felt following the controversy around her missed doping tests, Armitstead added: “Pretty exhausted, looking forward to spending time with my family and the people who love me, but to be honest I can’t feel sorry for myself.

“This is sport and that’s what it’s about - you open yourself up to judgement.”

Chris Boardman is not happy about the safety of the descent at the end of the course, where Annemiek van Vleuten had a horrible crash.

“I’m really just waiting for news, it’s very hard to concentrate when you see a crash like that. I’m actually quite angry about it because I looked at the road furniture and thought nobody can crash here and get up. This was way past technical, this was dangerous, and it means people who designed the course have seen it and left it."

Murray started sluggishly, but there was never a hint that the defending champion would be seriously troubled, although Troicki did not make it easy for him in the first set.

The Briton hangs around to sign autographs and various paraphernalia before leaving his stage. The Wimbledon champion's signature is as prized in this part of the world as elsewhere.

Spectators are also being told to vanish as there's an evening session to prepare for. And as everyone leaves there's a hint of rain in the air. There was no need to slap on the Factor 30 after all...
