Big celebrations from the ladies in red, hugs and whoop-whooping. The Argentina team are slumped on their bench, some are even in tears. Don't cry for me, Argentina.

All over! Great Britain hang on to make it three wins out of three. They are through to the quarter-finals with two games to spare. First they beat world number threes Australia, now it's the number twos in Argentina. Bronze in London and a very impressive start in Rio.

Jonny Magrinho: Maddie Hitch is absolutely phenomenal. What a player. She's the Buffon of field hockey. If we win it'll be because of her.

Great Britain are putting it all on the line. In Laura Unsworth's case, that involves taking an Argentine stick to the face. She's briefly down, but not going off. These girls are tough as teak. Two minutes...

Did I say it's raining? It's chucking it down. Any more and we'll see Noah rounding up two of every animal. GB are pushed back into their own defensive third. The Argentine keeper has been a spectator since that penalty save.

To put this scoreline into context, Argentina are ranked second in the world, while GB are seventh. Rain falling, GB pushed further back. Goalmouth scramble, but the ball is somehow cleared. Sophie Bray back on.

Great Britain need to get the ball wide. Don't go down the middle, Argentina are just waiting there to pick the ball off.

Susannah Townsend, sin-binned earlier, is back on, but Great Britain are only up to 10 because Sophie Bray has been ordered to sit down. Floodlights beaming down, figures of red trying to resist those in blue and white stripes. Nearly eight minutes left...

If there is one person I would have wanted on that penalty it would have been her.

How much will that affect the result?

Penalty saved! Helen Richardson-Walsh's flick is saved! It came after Alex Danson was almost beheaded in the Argentine area. The team in blue and white could have been out of this, but that is another boost.

Conveniently, there's time for the final quarter in this match before eyes to turn canoeing and shooting. Great Britain, in red, were 3-0 up on Argentina, who are now back in this contest. If Britain hang on they will make a very early entrance into the last eight.

Not a bad morning of drama at the sevens then. New Zealand edge through by a point on points difference, Great Britain looking highly functional but Alice in Wonderland is perhaps not quite so elegant.

I'm off to shooting with this image haunting me slightly.

And that's another from Argentina, who are showing why they're the world number twos. GB keeper pulls off a fine save to deny Florencia Habif but she pounces on the rebound to slot in a second for Argentina.
