There are 15 paddlers in this K1 semi-final. Joe Clarke needs to be in the fastest 10 to reach the final. The course is 250m long. If a paddler touches or misses a gate, time is added. Clarke is up after the next man, Germany's Hannes Aigner.

And another one for Helen Richardson-Walsh to extend Great Britain's lead. Some good work in the box and Richardson-Walsh is in the right place at the right time to knock it in from close range.

Goal for Great Britain! That's well worked, a lovely pentalty corner delivery from Kate Richardson-Walsh and Helen Richardson-Walsh slices it home.

Ah yes, canoeing. After David Florence's disappointment in the C1 yesterday, Joe Clark hunts for a medal in the K1. He'll be going in his semi-final run very soon.

There's also some hockey going on right at this very moment....

There you have it. New Zealand's progress to the last eight is confirmed. Fiji's reward for keeping New Zealand in the competition is a quarter-final against New Zealand. Great Britain meet Argentina in the last eight.

It has been a stern test.

Is the pressure of winning an Olympic medal getting to the world champions, Fiji?

All over. Fiji hang on and, more importantly, New Zealand scrape through on points difference (we think).

And that might just be enough to get New Zealand through. Fiji look like they might be able to score at will, taking advantage of some tired American legs.

This is why sevens is an ideal Olympic sport. End-to-end stuff, endlessly entertaining. Fiji are through the US defence on the halfway line, an easy run to touch down. Extras added. As it stands, I think New Zealand are through by a single point.

Did I say that the US were mucking this up? Fiji are back to their full complement of seven, but Perry Baker's try, converted by Madison Hughes, puts the Americans back ahead. New Zealand back on the brink...

Gasps in the media centre as several boats tangle with each other heading round the fourth mark in the mixed Nacra 17, that's a catamaran to you and me, which is making its Olympic debut.

It looked look like the French boat had a problem, while Great Britain pair Ben Saxton and Nicola Groves did superbly to finish the first race in third place, having started poorly.

When I spoke to them a couple of months back, they said this could be the most exciting sailing class as the Nacra 17 is potentially the fastest boat in the regatta.

It's certainly delivered so far and we might have a protest or two later, where crews can argue they were impeded and improve their finishing position.

If New Zealand do get through, they will owe Fiji a favour a day from now until Tokyo 2020. Despite having a man in the sin bin, Fiji go over in the corner for a 12-7 half-time lead. At the minute, the US are mucking it up.

Great Britain's women have started as the stronger side, but Argentina are starting to claw their way back into the first quarter. Argentina's Delfina Merino has just seen her shot thud into the post, before some good defending from the Brits ends another Argentine attack.

Fiji under the posts, completing a defence-to-attack move that took in the entire length of the field. A draw would suit both these sides. Just saying...
