Sam Addenbrook: Wow! @TeamGB off to an amazing start in the velodrome! Olympics record in the team sprint!
Nevermind: The Kiwis are a big threat for the gold. Australia won't be far behind. That's the podium for me.

Amazing. Fantastic. That was the best case scenario. All three riders nailed their performances. It was what we were hoping for. If they can replicate that, they will be in the final and it will be a corker against New Zealand.

The British team will be delighted with that and were hoping to dip under 43 seconds - they did that by half a second. You can see that Jason Kenny and Callum Skinner were all over it.

A tenth of a second is fairly comfortable advantage, not one to get complacent about but one you can take a lot of confidence from going into the finals.

So we know Great Britain have set a new Olympic record. And we know they have qualified fastest for the next phase.
That means they will face Venezuela in the heats, with the winner going into either the gold-medal or bronze-medal race.
Does smashing qualifying really matter? "It is like a body blow to the nations," says Sir Chris Hoy. When he speaks, we listen.
Gymnastics: Women's all-around final
Aimee Lewis

"Here she comes," says a Brazilian lady sitting next to me, enthusiastically rubbing her hands in anticipation of seeing Simone Biles perform. There's no doubting who the headline act is at the Olympic Arena today.
The 19-year-old nails the vault, doing the Amanar - one of the hardest vaults performed by women. The judges award her 15.866. They might as well call off this all-around final and award Biles the gold now.
That might be all to come, but one thing that is done for the day is the first round of the men's golf.
Australia's Marcus Fraser finishes three shots ahead of the field at eight under. Canada's Graham Delaet and 2016 Open champion Henrik Stenson of Sweden are tied for second on five under.
Meanwhile, Great Britain's Justin Rose - who earlier became the first man to hit a hole-in-one at the Olympic Games - is four under, with Danny Willett shooting a par score of 71.
Plenty still to come later on, including:
22:21 - Track cycling - team sprint final - GB's Hindes, Kenny and Skinner
23:00 -Rugby Sevens final at 23:00 - GB v Fiji
00:30 - Women's hockey - GB v Japan
01:30 - Table tennis - men's singles gold match
03:01 - Swimming - men's 200m medley final - Phelps v Lochte
Men's team sprint
There's another round of eight teams for Great Britain to get through. That begins at 21:10. If they are in the fastest two teams, they got through to the final, which is at 22:25.

Changing the gear strategy of Philip Hindes paid dividends. They were focusing on the delivery. Callum Skinner was under so much pressure but boy has he come good. It was half a second quicker than they were hoping for.
Men's team sprint
Flying start for Great Britain! It's an Olympic record of 42.462 seconds, which I'm reliably informed is an average of 39.4mph. My Corsa doesn't go that fast. They are safely through.
Men's team sprint
It's all about the time here. Eight of the nine teams go through.

The GB sprint team come into these Games in great form. If the sprint team can replicate what they've been doing in training they'll do well. With the Germans having an ill rider and replacing him, Britain have a great chance.
