That's better from Johanna Konta - a bit of anger and she's clawed a set back against Angelique Kerber. The German is still very much in control of this quarter-final tie, however.

    Gymnastics: Women's all-around final

We are halfway through the women's all-around final, and we were expecting an American one-two with Simone Biles and Alexandra Raisman. However, Russia's Aliya Mustafina is the leader after two disciplines.

Biles got 14.966 and Raisman 14.166 from their uneven bars routines, to drop to second and fourth respectively, while Mustafina jumped above both gymnasts with a score of 15.666 on the same apparatus.

Great Britain's Ellie Downie, the winner of the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award in 2015, is in contention for a medal after a great vault that scored 15.1. After two events she is seventh and it is the uneven bars next for her.

A reminder of how dangerous gymnastics can be. Jade Barbosa lands awkwardly at the beginning of her floor routine and she can no longer continue. Understandably, she cries. "Brazil! Brazil!" scream the crowd, but their cheers can't help her recover. She's put in a wheelchair and leaves the main arena. It didn't look too serious, but grave enough to end her participation in this final.

The GB women's pursuit team have just finished warming up on the static bikes and will begin the start of the defence of their 2012 title.

The discipline has increased to 4,000m and four riders with Laura Trott and Joanna Rowsell-Shand returning from the London Games.

It's a great atmosphere inside the velodrome with a healthy smattering of Union flags. Dance music is played between the action and we're being encouraged to Vamos Agitar - make some noise!
