Fiona Pennie must be sitting there watching, thinking "my goodness it's my turn next". What better way to be sitting on a start line then knowing your team-mates have come away with gold and silver. It was a wonderful performance from David and Richard and they knew they could be proud of it.

  5. silver medal

Silver Medal - Great Britainpublished at 18:44

    Men's C2

It's silver for Great Britain! Like so many before them, Germany lost time at the end of the run, meaning David Florence and Richard Hounslow repeat the silver medal they won four years ago. Gold goes to Slovakian cousins Ladislav and Peter Skantar.

Germany the last pair out. Remember, GB are guaranteed at least bronze. The Germans are 0.72 inside gold at the first split...

Florence and Hounslow were up at halfway, there was real anticipation, it was tangible here on the X-Park but somewhere in the closing stages it slipped and they are second with two to come down.

What a thriller. Florence collects medals like stamps but he doesn't have an Olympic gold to his name and he won't here.

The Czech pair capsize and so it'll be at least bronze for Britain - second with one to come down.

They have thrown it away with that capsize. That is going to be painful viewing for them in the future because Olympic gold was beckoning. They had over a second's lead and they lose it between gate 22 and 23.

They have capsized! The Czech Republic have capsized! They were set for gold but ended up in the water! Great Britain will get a medal, but what colour?

  12. canoeing (slalom)

It's the Czech boat that is next out and is currently well inside the lead. That would push GB down to bronze.

They are happy with themselves. They know that they did a good performance and that is what it's all about. If they had gone out and given a different performance, it would have been a different matter.

Florence and Hounslow just lost it on the bottom half of the course.

They seemed to be going so well and lost a little bit of momentum but they are in the silver medal position.

Where did that time go? David Florence and Richard Hounslow, inside the lead for much of that run, end almost half a second behind Slovakia. They lie in silver-medal position and punch the air. Two boats to go. Is that enough for a medal?
