You see things pushed along sometimes - you think of Bob Beamon in the long jump - but I'm not sure what to make of that to be honest. I will be interested to hear what Ayana has to say afterwards.

An absolutely eye-popping time as Ethiopia's Almaz Ayana romps away from the field to win in a new world record.

She has beaten the mark set by China's Junxia Wang in 1993.

    "Phenomenal," says Brendan Foster.

It was all about GB's game plan.

The Australians had a fantastic race. They pushed us to the limit, asked all the questions but we had all the answers.

Hats off to the Brits. An absolutely incredible performance.

This is what gold feels like for the men's four.

And they did it with Alex Gregory taking a unused pair of sunnies and a wrist watch along for the ride and some extra ballast.

She is half a minute ahead of the world record.

Crazy, crazy pace in the women's 10,000m final. Leaders 15 seconds under world record pace at halfway. Jo Pavey through 5,000m in 15 mins 40 secs, yet nearly lapped. Extraordinary.

That is the most impressive of the five wins for Great Britain.

It was never in doubt all the way down.

Credit to the way they have trained for this.

It is very difficult to read the race too much.

Australia need a fair margin on our boys in the last 500m because they can overpower anyone.
