It was the perfect start for Becky James. It was a hard way to do it but she dictated the race. Fantastic.

It's about playing it safe, getting to the front and dictating the race - that's what she did.

She's now got two rides between her and a medal.

    Sir Chris Hoy

It can happen at any time, particularly at an Olympics where you make desperate moves to get through.

It was a really nasty one. The French rider seemed at fault there.

This won't bother Becky James as you almost expect this to happen. It's a very physical event.

And so after an amazing day for GB on Friday, where they won two golds, and a pretty special one for Ireland after their first ever rowing medal, we reach the final day of the regatta.

Both GB's men's and women's eights compete in their respective finals later on, with a chance to take the overall medal tally to five, one down on the target of six.

Five-time Olympic champion Sir Steve Redgrave says he is expecting gold from the men and silver from the women. The men's eight have not really hit the heights this season, but the expectation is still there.

Redgrave says: "For them, there will be no glory in silver."

As for the women, they have been in good form but may find the United States crew too strong.

The first rowing medals of the day go up for grabs shortly after 14:32 BST.

The final of the women's and men's eight is at 15:06 BST and 15:27 BST respectively.

After the drizzle and chill of the first morning in Estadio Olimpico, Saturday has dawned rather more postcard Rio - clear blue skies, enough warmth to make even boardshorts and shirtsleeves seem excessive, suncream being squirted on rather than hats pulled low.

For the sprinters and heptathlon long jumpers, the heat will be extremely welcome after the cold that seeped into so many major muscle groups on that brisk Friday.

Heptathlon leader Jessica Ennis-Hill and the rest start their long jump at 15:45 BST.
