Charlotte Dujardin's team-mate Carl Hester: "I thought he was very clever to put the sign up on the screen ‘will you marry me?’

"I can tell you now, if he said it face to face with Charlotte it would probably be a no, the horses come first.

"I have to congratulate him later for putting it out there, and now she’ll be embarrassed."

Apparently, Charlotte Dujardin's partner Dean Golding has proposed to her in the form of a sign that is hanging underneath the scoreboard. We're not sure if she's seen it yet.

Now, that's all rather lovely, but was it there during her routine? I mean, it doesn't strike me as the best moment to propose. Potentially off-putting?

The three medalists are back out, still aboard their horses, who are now adorned with rosettes. No medals for the horses, mind, which has always struck me as a little unfair.

Another day, another honour for Charlotte Dujardin. Not only is that back-to-back gold in this discipline from 2012 but aboard Valegro she is also world and European champion.

Dujardin bought her first dressage horse with inheritance money from her grandmother and boy has that been a shrewd investment.

Speaking of investment, the £18m equestrian received in funding has served up a gold and silver now. Germany though have five medals in this field.

The numbers will be crunched for all sports after this Olympics. Have they delivered enough? For now though, we have a podium to top.

Three-time Olympic gold medalist Charlotte Dujardin told BBC One: "I’m actually a little bit speechless for once in my life. It means the absolute world to me.

"At London, I had no expectations or pressure to go out there. Today I felt a huge amount of pressure and expectation.

"For me it could be one of the last rides on Valegro. For me, to finish it this way, it’s a really emotional time. I’m so happy."

That is brilliant, fantastic. What a partnership they have been. One wonders will Valegro go on? I hope he does because we just love watching him.

It’s always difficult to know when to stop. Valegro looked fantastic, he didn’t look 14 – he looked more like a 12-year-old. He was in flying form.

Isabell Werth finishes her routine on Weihegold Old, it looked good. But was it good enough?

Now we wait for the scores.

If she gets less than 93.857%, then Charlotte Dujardin has struck gold again for Great Britain.

One more to go. One more stands between Great Britain and another gold medal.

Hats off to these horses though, talk about grit. Down on Copacabana it was 27 degrees this morning. Here away from the coast by some 20 miles it's 34 degrees.

Still they are keeping their composure with grace and delivering excellent shows, none more so than Valegro.
