Usain wins heat ninepublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 16 August 2016

Usain Bolt, in lane five, takes to the front pretty much more the bend is finished and floats down the final straight.

He's a sea of tranquility in a storm of frantic legs and arms, strained necks and tight muscles. Simple.

Croatia's Sandra Perkovic retains her Olympic discus title with a best throw of 69.21m.

Perkovic, who is unbeaten this year, had fouls in the first two rounds and her only legal throw in round three was good enough to secure gold.

France's Melina Robert-Michon threw a national record 66.73m to take the silver.

Cuba Denia Caballero, the 2015 world champion, got the bronze with 65.34m.

A few huge smashes from Fu Haifeng who holds the world record at 206 mph - that's faster than Lewis Hamilton in his Mercedes.

With one more heat before Usain Bolt comes out for his 200m heat, there's a sneaky view of the great man in the waiting area, doing a little bit of... I want to say samba dancing. It may be jive.

Dancing's not my thing. Leave me alone.

It's remarkable that he knows whenever a camera is pointed at him. Unless he's constantly bonkers.

Next up on the track, Great Britain's athletics skipper Adam Gemili.

His last season was crooked by injury.

He is up against Nickel Ashemeade of Jamaica in this heat who has the same season's best of 20.07.

These two should be the first two home. If not, 20.36 is the mark that would get you in as a fastest loser so far.

Great Britain's Chis Langridge and Marcus Ellis are on court for their men's doubles semi-final against China's Fu Haifeng and Zhang Nan.

Victory would book their place in the final and confirm Britain's first Olympic badminton medal for 12 years.

A tough one though against the world number four pair who were both gold medalists at London 2012, Fu in the men's doubles and Zhang in the mixed.

Britain's world number 22 pair have beaten the pairs ranked third and eighth in the world already in the competition however...

Michael Conlan misses out on a medal

Ireland's Michael Conlan has missed out on a medal in the boxing ring after losing a unanimous decision to Russia's Vladimir Nikitin in the 56kg bantamweight division.

It was a questionable decision in an all-action affair where Conlan was getting the better of the exchanges and opening a cut on the Russian in the second round.

However, the judges saw it differently as they favoured the work of the 2013 world silver medallist to give him a place in the semi-finals on Thursday.
