    Men's javelin qualifying

Four men are guaranteed a place in the javelin final from group A, including this year's world leader, Germany's Thomas Rohler, who cleared the qualifying mark of 83m by a single centimetre. Typical German efficiency.

Group B will have a crack soon, and if 12 men don't reach that 83m mark, the top 12 men will progress to the final.

No British representation I'm afraid. Surely Steve Backley could still give it a decent go? Get him down from the commentary box!

    Men's decathlon

Huge screams inside the Olympic Stadium. Nope, One Direction haven't rocked up for an impromptu gig. It's not even Usain Bolt strolling in.

The noise level picks up because a Brazilian athlete is streaking away from the field in his 400m heat. Luiz Albert De Araujo crosses the line first to a hero's reception. He's nowhere near the medal positions so he'd better soak it up.

Favourite Brittney Reese fouled her first jump so she needs to bang one in - and does. It's 6.79m, that's her in fourth. She can attack it from there.

I think so. I am not sure why that might be in the distance races but the quickness of the track causes all sorts of problems for hurdlers. That could be what's going on.

    Women's 100m hurdles semi-final 3

Wham, bang, wallop! Hurdling is a dangerous game isn't it? Two hurdlers fall in an exciting third semi.

GB's Cindy Ofili is not distracted and excels clocking a time of 12.71s, putting her in second behind USA's Kristi Castlin and qualifying her for the final.

Also the results of this race mean her sister Tiffany Porter qualifies for the final as one of the fastest losers.

So, that's two GB representatives in the final!
