The Russian Olympic Committee team won gold, with the United States,who had earlier lost Simone Biles,claiming the silver medal.
Britain's women last won a medal in the Olympic team gymnastics event at the 1928 Games in the Netherlands.

Rowing: Britain's men have won the Olympic coxless four contest on the past five occasions. This time, the quartet of Sholto Carnegie, Oliver Cook, Rory Gibbs and Matthew Rossiter enter having placed third at the past two World Championships (02:10 BST).
Helen Glover and Polly Swann contest the women's pairs semi-finals at (04:20 BST). GB will also feature in the men's double sculls, women's four and men's quadruple sculls finals.
Men's rugby sevens: Great Britain face New Zealand in the first semi-final at (03:00 BST), before Fiji take on Argentina (03:30 BST). The final will be at (10:00 BST).
Cycling: Men's and women's time trials (03:30-09:40).Geraint Thomas could be Britain's best hope of a medal in the men's event. Anna Shackley competes for GB in the women's event.
Diving: Jack Laugher and Daniel Goodfellow will try to retain the men's 3m synchro diving title (07:00 BST).
Equestrian: GB's Charlotte Dujardin goes for more Olympic glory after winning team dressage bronze with Charlotte Fry and Carl Hester on Tuesday. Dujardin will aim to become the first British woman to win gold at three Olympics when she competes on Gio from (09:30 BST).
