'Pretty solid play from Casey'published at 05:58 British Summer Time 29 July 2021

    Men's golf

    Iain Carter
Golf commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live

Great Britain's Paul Casey finished his opening round four-under-par 67, so pretty solid play.

It currently puts him in the position of seventh place.

The pace has been set by the world number 161, that's Sepp Straka from Austria, who rounded an eight-under-par 63 and he's one clear of a couple of players in the clubhouse.

A set back a few moments ago for Ireland player Rory McIlroy, he's bogeyed at 12 to get back to one-under-par, which is the same mark as the other British competitor Tommy Fleetwood who's just had a bounce back birdie at the eleventh, having dropped a shot at the tenth, so at one-under-par with seven balls to play.

'Longest, drawn out end to match I've ever seen'published at 05:57 British Summer Time 29 July 2021

    Great Britain 2-2 Netherlands

    Sara Orchard
Hockey commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live

One of the longest, drawn out end to a match I've ever seen.

Great Britain had to save four penalty corners in a row to hold on to that draw. That is now significant because the Great Britain men are now through to the quarter finals with a game to spare in Pool B.

We didn't get out of the pool at Rio, they've improved and it means they can enjoy their final match.

It means Germany and South Africa will be scrapping it out tomorrow for that final quarter-final spot.

That point for Great Britain... how have they survived this?!

They have somehow salvaged a point and fought back from 2-0 down.

Dramatic match with an incredible conclusion. Great Britain back in contention.

British men through to quarter-finalspublished at 05:54 British Summer Time 29 July 2021

    Great Britain 2-2 Netherlands

Phew! Great Britain's men survive. How? Brave and desperate defending, largely. And a post.

Who cares? They are through to the quarter-finals!!

The Dutch are unable to convert any of their four last-gasp penalty corners and Britain earn a draw - after being 2-0 down early in the third period.

Most importantly, it means they are guaranteed to finish in the top four of Pool B.

Now they are pushing for a winner which would seal their qualification to the quarter-finals.

The Dutch, though, can be clinical on the break - as they showed with their opening goal.

Remember: all is not lost for Britain if they lose this penultimate Pool B match.

But a win or draw would guarantee GB’s place in the quarter-finals with a game to spare.
