I saw Paul Casey speaking to BBC TV, he didn't want to do anymore interviews and he was absolutely devastated.

You'd have to have a heart of stone not to feel for him.

He said that he tried to squeeze everything out of his game but he thinks that it was that driver that let him down this week.

Oof, Mito Pereira and Rory McIlroy's putts for birdie both lip out and they both are out.

CT Pan and Collin Morikawa both sink their birdie putts and we are down to two.

Onto the par-four 18th with Pan and Morikawa going for the bronze.

Now everyone wants in on the birdie action. Almost everyone follows Collin Morikawa's lead in giving themselves birdie chances by putting their approach shots to within a couple of feet.

Sebastian Munoz has the most work to do and his putt for birdie doesn't sink so looks like his race is run.

As for the women’s laser radial medal race, Denmark's Anne-Marie Rindom triumphed, ahead of Sweden's Josefin Olsson, with a bronze for Marit Bouwmeester of the Netherlands.

Matt Wearn's gold medal in the men's laser is Australia's fourth gold of the day, following two in swimming and one in BMX freestyle. This is the first time that Australia has won four Olympic golds in a single day.

Onto the third play off hole we go then - the par-four 11th.

Collin Morikawa has just turned a terrible tee shot into a near perfect approach shot, the ball plonking within a couple of inches of the hole.

Set up for the birdie but he wasn't far off eagling it.

Let's check in with the sailing briefly, as Australia's Matt Wearn won gold earlier, with Croatia's Tonci Stipanovic taking silver and Noway's Hermann Tomasgaard bronze.

Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa then tap in to make par too, while Colombia's Sebastian Munoz also stays in the hunt.

They'll all head to the par-four 11th with CT Pan.

If anyone lands a birdie here, it would secure bronze.

The lack of a significant crowd at the Kasumigaseki Country Club is making this play-off even more tense than you'd normally expect.

A few more are sure to drop out on the par-three 10th.

Feeling the same disappointment as Casey, but worse for Matsuyama at his home Olympics.

Paul Casey's putt is never on line. He fails to make par and the Briton is the first to drop out.

How about Hideki Matsuyama? Japan lets out a collective groan as his putt drifts off too.

But Ireland's Rory McIlroy makes his to stay in it heading to the 10th for the second hole of the play-off.

He chips it past the hole and, given how he performed with the putter on the back nine, he could be heading out here.

Paul Casey has threaded it through the tress and onto the fairway. The Briton's given himself a chance of staying alive in this play-off.

Everyone in the first group of four has made par.

Coming up, we've got the men's singles final with world number five Alexander Zverev of Germany against Russian Karen Khachanov, who is ranked 25th in the world.

Zverev ended Novak Djokovic's hopes of a 'Golden Slam' with a three-set win in the semi-finals while Khachanov beat Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta.

The pair have met four times on the ATP Tour with two wins apiece.
