Max did amazing in Rio. He was obviously not just a double Olympic champion, he also took an all-around medal (bronze). It takes a lot to do six pieces.
He knew his medal chances were with pommel horse so took the decision to step away from all six apparatus.
It's going to be an interesting final. A lot has happened in his life over the last five years, he's a dad now. His whole perspective has changed.

Alexander Zverev is the men's singles Olympic champion.
The German defeats Karen Khachanov of the Russian Olympic Committee 6-3 6-1 to win gold.
Zverev is the first German to win Olympic gold in singles since Steffi Graf in 1988.

Rhys McClenaghan, who competes internationally for both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, is a Commonwealth and European gold medallist.
He's competing for Ireland at these Olympics but hopes winning Olympic gold in Tokyo will help inspire the next generation of Northern Irish gymnasts.

It comes just days after she became the first Brazilian women's artistic gymnast to medal at an Olympic Games in winning all-around silver. Now she has two.

Here's how Max Whitlock qualified for the pommel horse final.

In his first competition in 18 months, Whitlock failed to make the pommel horse final at the European Championships in Basel this April.
He urged perspective though, saying only technical tweaks were required and pointing out that he’s “made mistakes on four out of seven Europeans that I’ve done".
He added: “100% the error has made me stronger.”
He was third in qualification for today's final, with a score of 14.900 points.
