    Women's final

Lot's of big tricks and big moves in the women's final so far.

Charlotte Worthington, who represents Team GB's only chance of a medal is the sixth rider out of the nine to go.

So far Germany's Lara Lessmann is leading the way at present. No mean feat given she is scared of flying. And well there is a lot of that.

Must admit I missed Novak Djokovic doing his best John McEnroe impression in his bronze medal defeat to Pablo Carreno Busta in the men's singles.

    Men's golf

No major movement at the top of the leaderboard in the golf at present. The leaders don't go out for another hour or so. It's a tasty top three.

Paul Casey is the top-placed GB golfer - tied for third - on 12 under par, tucked in behind the leader USA's Xander Schauffele (14 under) and home favourite Hideki Matsuyama (13 under).

Ireland's Rory McIlroy is tied for fifth on 11 under. GB's Tommy Fleetwood also remains in contention. He is tied for ninth, on 10 under par.

    Full leaderboard.

Women's shot put final (02:35 BST)

    Feel the thunder.

The women's shot put finalists have been given the nod to make their walk to the stadium floor. There are energy drinks in hand, large bags carrying all their belongings, face masks, focus and a general sense of business in the air.

China's Lijiao Gong has thrown further than anyone in the field this season but there are a few who have gone close to her.

"Britain and Germany were separated by very little overnight, with Tom McEwen and Michael Jung still to come. If the second German rider Sandra Auffarth rides well or clear, then the pressure will be on Tom's round."

    Three British hopes...

The women's long jump athletes are trackside as they get ready to go through qualifiers.

Great Britain has the world's seventh-ranked in the field in Abigail Irozuru, while Jasmine Sawyers is ranked 10th and Lorraine Ugen in 14th.

This one looks wide open but 12 of the 30 in the field will be trying to get into the final.

    To the sand pit then...

    Cross-country eventing

    BBC Sport

Laura Collett was talking to Rishi Persad after her clear round: "First and foremost that horse is unbelievable. He's pretty inexperienced and for him to have performed how he has performed is unbelievable.

"The fences come up quickly and you have no time, it's bang bang bang! The horses have to think quicker than we have. We've walked it - it's a surprise for them.

"Team GB have an unbelievable bond and we're here to win the gold. Oliver [Townend] was the best man to go first - he gave me a very short pep talk.

"We've probably got three of the best horses here and they are showing that.

"I feel like I'm living in a dream world from the moment I got the call. At the moment I am enjoying the moment because I am loving being here."

    Women's RS:X

At just 22 years old, Emma Wilson can call herself an Olympic medallist. The stuff of dreams.

The British windsurfer won bronze on her Olympics debut in the women's RS:X class.

Wilson's mother, Penny, was world windsurfing champion in 1986, 1990 and 1991, and represented Great Britain at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics.

Medal table position of hosts compared to previous GamesImage source, BBC Sport

Team GB's 28 medals are now 10 ahead of the number our pre-Olympic Virtual Medal Table forecast had at this stage. We have therefore adjusted our projected British medal total upwards to 62, including 16 gold medals because the number of golds is also two ahead of schedule. At this stage, it looks like Great Britain could finish fourth on total medals, ahead of host nation Japan. A few more gold medals will be required to finish that high on the gold-ordered table though. The current Gracenote forecast of 16 for Great Britain would almost certainly mean fifth place on the final medal table.

Collett completes clear roundpublished at 01:17 British Summer Time 1 August 2021

    Cross-country eventing

Clear round for Laura Collett. She is currently sat in the bronze-medal spot in the individual competition.

Be quite a story is she takes a medal on her Olympics debut.

In 2013, she was crushed by her horse in a cross-country fall with paramedics having to resuscitate her five times. A catalogue of serious injuries included a fractured shoulder, broken ribs, a punctured lung, a lacerated liver and damage to her kidneys.

She was placed in an induced coma for six days and had a damaged optic nerve that has ruined the vision in her right eye.
