'It was a change for the whole country' - Jamespublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 5 August 2021

    Men's 400m final

Kirani James' 400m win at London 2012 was Grenada's first Olympic medal of any colour.

"It had a ripple effect on my home country," he told BBC Sport.

"It gave Grenada more recognition. People were looking up where Grenada is and finding out more about it, it was a boost in tourism and things like that.

"It was a change, but not just for me."

The 28-year-old goes for another Olympic gold in the 400m final next.
