That makes pretty darn good reading, doesn't it?

Great Britain's two gold medals today - courtesy of cyclists Laura Kenny and Katie Archibald in the madison, plus Kate French in the modern pentathlon - have lifted them back in fourth place in the medal table.

It was so close to 19 gold medals too, a hundredth of a second away in fact...

After winning successive bronze medals at London 2012 and Rio 2016, Canada have taken gold in the women's football at Tokyo 2020.

After a pretty terrible shootout with seven spot-kicks missed or saved, Canada win the shootout 3-2 on sudden death.

Sweden take the silver for the second successive Olympic Games.

Joseph Cheptegei and Shaunae Miller-Uibo were dominant in claiming men's 5,000m and women's 400m gold medals.

And there was a world record for Aleksandra Miroslaw in everyone's new favourite sport, speed climbing. Gladiators, ready!

    That's it.

The winner of the Tokyo 2020 women's football tournament will be decided by a penalty shootout.

Canada Jessie Fleming scored a second-half penalty to cancel out Stina Blackstenius' opener and take the game to extra-time, but neither side could find another goal.

There can be only one winner.

What a day it's been (we seem to say that every day, don't we?).

But wow. Nothing like a sprint relay to finish on either is there.

    Anyway let's regroup and recap...

Lovely words there from the whole quartet but particularly Richard Kilty, who really did his best to console Nathaneel Mitchell-Blake post-race.

Good to see Mitchell-Blake smiling again too.

A hundredth of a second, that's all it was.

Great Britain men's 4x400m silver medallists talk to BBC Sport:

CJ Ujah: "I’m used to doing that now. I’ve been doing it this whole cycle – a long cycle, five years. To round it off with a silver medal... I feel we’ve collected a medal at every major championships as a team. Super proud of these guys."

Zharnel Hughes: "Tonight was all about giving it all. I knew CJ was going to come in fast tonight. My body is feeling well, and I gave it everything. We’ve always been dreaming about this moment and it came to pass."

Richard Kilty: "After the heat we knew we had to pull it out and give it our everything, we were prepared to die that's what we said, we would do anything - what more can we ask for. We're Olympic silver medallists and in Rio we finished fifth and so we wanted a medal, we went to win it but we were unlucky - this is unity and a team and we're in this together and we absolutely pulled it out as a quartet to win this medal. And in 20 years' time we will look at this as one of the best moment of our lives."

Nathaneel Mitchell-Blake: "Apologies if I seemed ungrateful at first - it's just we put a lot of work and effort into this and we believe we're the best quartet in the world and we wanted to display that when the time comes. We want to show the world we deserve to be on the platform we are."

Richard Kilty: "This man ran an amazing leg and he looked disappointed but this is a team - he's been part of three of the fastest teams in British history. He's a legend and he brought us home in incredible style."

We talk about the point of relaxation at the point where you need it most and Nathaneel Mitchell-Blake will be disappointed because he knows his form may have let him down there.

To be honest with the Jamaicans not running brilliantly and the Americans not being there this was a golden opportunity to seize the gold medal and Italy came out on top.

That weight will be heavy for a little while - he expects more from himself, that's hard. I hope they will all rally round him.

Great Britain's bronze medal winning women's 4x100m team chat to BBC Sport:

Asha Philip: "I tried my best, my changeover wasn't the best but we’ve worked hard as a team. Being the pandemic we've had all the worst scenarios but we've got such a great team, such great support. We got a medal and that's what counts."

Imani Lansiquot: "I absolutely did feel pressure, I'm sorry to my granny and dad - everyone watching probably had a heart attack! We needed to trust the chemistry and we knew we could. I'm so proud it's my first Olympic medal and I'm so chuffed."

Dina Asher-Smith: "I saw quite a few people, I was like ‘oh time to move’ but I'm one of the best sprint athletes in the world and I just needed to keep it coming round the bend and make sure I came into Daryll like a train."

Daryll Neita: "For me it was just do my best for the team and wait for Dina to get to me. I crossed the line in 2016 getting a bronze in Rio and was sure we could do it again. Super proud of us - there’s no limits for us."

Asha Philip: "When we've got 10/11 Olympic finalists and world champions this is a proper team and I love competing with them. We're competitors against each other but we have such a good chemistry and we love it on the track because we all want to get a medal."

What odds on Italy? Kudos to them. The 100m was incredible but I did not have them. I had Canada, Jamaica, GB... but not Italy.

You can see Mitchell-Blake is disappointed - he gave away the gold. He gets tight, and we've seen it before and it happened today.

Chijindu Ujah got a great start he exploded out the blocks, working hard, he wanted to do well.

Zharnel Hughes is in good form - he's run well and we know he's been disappointed with himself personally in this Games but we can see there that his running is strong.

Richard Kilty round the bend a familiar position for him and he knows how to run the third leg, he enjoys it and he gives the baton to Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake and he's thinking 'what I'm in front!'

The Italian just hunts him down and we've lost by one hundredth of a second.

Nethaneel will be disappointed and feel he's let the team down, but he hasn't at all.
