"I’m blown away. This has been a hard championship for me with the first round not going great. You can have one of those days. Had to go home, recalibrate and come out fighting for every step.

"I had this weird confidence in myself – some may call it cockiness – when you put the effort and work in and you’re surrounded by a team, like myself, you can go all the way.

"It’s testament to the way I was raised from my coaches when I was nine years old. My support system is endless - I just think anything was going to be possible and I’m so pleased I can give back to them."

What has the atmosphere been like in the British camp?

"When the first medal came back to our GB camp with Keely (Hodgkinson), I had to take myself away and say I want to create that for myself. I wanted to be the one everyone looks at – I’m that self-centred!

"With the help of my coaches of coaches, parent, brother, I felt like a world beater and I came out and performed."

Josh Kerr says he is "blown away" by what he has achieved.

"I have a weird confidence in myself," Kerr tells BBC Sport in his trackside interview.

"Some people might call it cockiness but when you put the effort and work in you can't not feel confidence."

Remember Josh Kerr only scraped through qualification, He said he would have a long hard talk with himself.

He ran a personal best and it was almost a new British record. Only Mo Farah has run faster than him.
