England are caught hook, line and sinker by a superb dummy. Samoan dummy half Pita Godinet angles for an inventive shimmy from about 10 metres out and the England defence bite like a hungry koi carp. The markers go missing as Godinet strolls over to bring Samoa back into the contest, aided by Kyle Stanley's conversion.

"This team in blue won't go away, as long as they are hanging on, we saw that at the World Cup last year. England need to keep going through the processes and execute their skills."

England, led by skipper James Graham, crash into the Samoan defence as they aim to find another hole. Matty Smith clips in a grubber on the last tackle, but it is too strong for team-mate Daryl Clark to touch down.

Samoa earn good field position as they look for a foothold back in this match. But a sloppy mistake gives England head and feed in a scrum inside the English 10-metre line. That relieves the pressure as England, through Gareth Widdop's galloping run, turn that into a promising attacking move of their own.

Former Super League and Australian NRL coach on BBC Two

"I was impressed with the width of Matty Smith's pass. It gave Gareth Widdop time on the ball. That is a typical try Liam Farrell would score in Super League."

And that's exactly what England do. There's plenty of room out of the opposite flank as England open up the Samoans and Wigan second rower Liam Farrell is on hand to power over the line. That's his first try for his country and gives them daylight.

Widdop's right boot is more lethal than David Beckham's. Almost. Another clean strike gives England a comfortable 10-point advantage.

England see out that spell before breaking forward on the attack. Josh Charnley can't find a way through on the right - perhaps it is time to go left?

You can't watch rugby league these days without seeing a Burgess boy involved. Sam might have left for rugby union but his younger siblings Tom and George are in thick of the action early in the second half. George loses control when he smashes into a wall of blue Samoan shirts. That gives ball to Samoa who try to pin back England in their 20-metre line.

"The guys have gone out there but you need to get the work-rest ratio right. This is a Test match, nothing can compare to that. The players go to the bench and are wet through, that goes on to the ball and it is horrible to play in.

"We have seen in the last five to eight minutes that the players are starting to settle into the game a bit more."

"It is a dream debut for Daryl Clark, laying on a try in the first 30 seconds of his international career.

"Samoa have had 20-25 play-the-balls in England's half and you can't keep doing that."
