What a finish. What a story we have got in this game.

  3. try

TRY - England 0-8 Scotlandpublished at 18:02 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2016

    Matty Russell (24 mins)

Unbelievable try, absolutely unbelievable. This is a stunning finish from Matty Russell.

Scotland play the ball to the left-hand corner towards the Warrington man, who looks to have been tackled by Kallum Watkins by barging his body out of play.

But Russell shows incredible athleticism to keep his composure, and with his body in the air, pushes the ball down to the turf with his fingertips.

    Sensational!

Video ref Ben Thaler took what seemed like ages being awarding a try.

Danny Brough misses his second conversion of the game, this one from wide on the touchline.

Video ref Ben Thaler is taking a long, hard look at this. Is Matty Russell's hand on the ball when he puts it down over the line?

    England 0-4 Scotland

Is this another for Scotland?? Is it? It will be spectacular if it is as Matty Russell looks to have plonked the ball in the corner...

The referee has given no try on the field - so the touch judge would have to be certain to over-rule.

England survive - there's a phrase Wayne Bennett would not have been expecting to hear tonight.

    Ahh, what a shame.

Scotland looked like they were going to go in for another, but first try scorer Kane Linnett knocks the ball on and surrenders possession.

Steve McCormack's men really need to take any chance that falls to them.

That was a tremendous tackle from Liam Hood. My word.

I do not think anybody would have expected this scoreline after 20 minutes.

What a hit lad...and England do not like this.

Scotland hooker Liam Hood absolutely smashed into England full-back Jonny Lomax to dislodge the ball from the St Helens man's grasp.

Chris Hill has a few words to say after that, and Scotland are getting right under the skins of their opponents.

England skipper Sam Burgess looking to lead from the front with a driivng run on the fourth tackle, but hooker Josh Hodgson's kick on the fifth is awful and gives possession away meekly.

That is the fourth penalty Scotland have conceded. That is one element they have got to get out of. You cannot keep on conceding penalties.

The number of penalties Scotland are conceding today is going to be their undoing.

A chance for England to get on the front foot...

Well done Scotland. That was tremendous on-line defence. They look composed.

England are trying to go through Scotland rather than round them.

Scotland will be pleased with the four points but also with that defence.

Yes, Scotland do hold firm for now.

Luke Gale's pass to Elliott Whitehead is terrible, behind the Canberra Raiders man, who cannot collect.

A missed opportunity and coach Wayne Bennett will be seething inside his box up in the stands.
