New Zealand came out with a different frame of mind in the second half, trying to isolate space. Great game for Jordan Kahu, at least in the second 40 minutes.

At home you couldn't see what Cooper Cronk was doing off the ball. He had players in movement with him. Everywhere he went he created numbers and space. It is like a symphony to watch.

Australia's Cooper Cronk: "From the point Mal Meninga came in we've changed a few things culturally and in the way we perform. We've achieved our goals in terms of winning the trophy but also in our performances."

New Zealand are in the process of building again. They have a new coach who needs to put his own stamp on the team. It is a development phase.

Australia coach Mal Meninga: "It was a goal of ours to win the Four Nations so that is a big plus for us. We have built as the games have progressed and that is a coach's dream.

"They're one of the best groups we've seen in international rugby league so we're lucky in that sense but you've still got to build a team and everybody did their job today."

Australia captain Cameron Smith: "We're undefeated throughout the season and that is great. The older boys have always had pride in the shirt and it's great to see the younger guys seeing the Kangaroos jersey as the pinnacle of rugby league."

Played four, won four. Job firmly done. The Australia players go up to collect their medals before gathering to fire off champagne and get covered in glitter as Cameron Smith lifts aloft the Four Nations trophy.

They are, quite simply, miles ahead of everyone else.

The second half died a death but that was outstanding in the first half and they thoroughly deserve to be Four Nations champions and No.1 in the world.

Just too good. They've been so efficient with great leadership and great game management. They are thoroughly deserved No.1 in the world, thoroughly deserved Four Nations champions and they're going to take some stopping in next year's World Cup.

Nothing cliched about playing Men at Work to mark an Aussie victory. Down Under echoes around Anfield as the players embrace down on the pitch.

New Zealand end with some flair and showboating as they try to keep the ball alive in search of a final score. It doesn't come, though. They have been resoundingly beaten here. Take a bow, Australia.

Into the last minute. Two tired teams out there now. It has been a long old season. It is going to end very sweetly for Australia - the Four Nations champions and new world number one.

40,042 at Anfield to watch this. They won't leave disappointed. Well, unless they are a Kiwi. And even they will have to begrudgingly accept they've seen a stellar showing from the Aussies.
