TRY - Australia 28-0 New Zealandpublished at 46 mins

    Darius Boyd

He is brilliant at both ends. Darius Boyd adds to the Aussie total, collecting a Smith pass and darting into space in the Kiwi defence. He is tackled short of the line but his momentum takes him over. Just. The video ref has a good long look but sees no reason to differ from the on-field call.

Thurston swings his kick wide of the posts.

No way through. Johnson's grubber kick on the sixth tackle is collected by Boyd, who again runs out his own try area. The Kiwis then commit another cardinal sin, giving away a penalty to hand the Aussies a territorial advantage.

A good solid start in defence from New Zealand who are given a penalty from a high tackle deep in their own first set. A chance to create something after Johnson's kick to touch.

New Zealand have to start this half as they spent much of the first - on the defensive. Johnson launches his kick and we are back under way.

Temperature really starting to drop now at Anfield.

Blue skies above the ground but dark clouds hanging over the Kiwis as the match restarts. What do you do in this situation? Roll your sleeves up and show some pride.

I can see the odd selfie stick in action. The Kangaroos fans are already in celebration mode. Anybody arguing with them?

We need to pay respect to how good Australian have been, and that's not like me! Their attention to detail to the smaller things has been first class.

They've struggled to get anyone south of Worksop interested in rugby league in England, so it will be interesting to see how folks in the US and Canada take to the sport.

Today, it was announced that North America is set to host the 2025 World Cup after initial plans got the support of governing body the Rugby League International Federation.

Toronto Wolfpack - Canada's first professional team - will compete in English rugby league's third tier in this coming season. So maybe by next decade America and Canada will be rugby league mad.

Of course, there is an equally good chance the globe will be a nuclear wasteland by then. Wichita Zombies v Cedar Rapids Mutants anyone?

New Zealand's Jesse Bromwich interviewed at half-time: "We came here with a game plan but we put pressure on ourselves. We had our chances but we just couldn't execute."

Telling shots from each dressing room. The Aussies all sat down, calm and focused, while the Kiwis are all on their feet, pacing and looking somewhat lost.

The best thing we can say about New Zealand's performance is Isaac Luke has kicked off really well because he's had to do it a lot.

The most impressive thing about this Australian side is the rugby league brains they've got. In rugby league and rugby union we're obsessed with producing athletes. These guys are good athletes but it's their rugby league brains that are so impressive.

New Zealand can be disappointed but I don't think we should take anything away from Australia and this masterclass of rugby league.

An absolute masterclass from the Aussies. In defence and attack they have been streets ahead of the Kiwis.

Well played Kenny-Dowall. After some Harlem Globetrotter handling from the Aussies to keep an attack alive, the Kiwi man claims Cooper Kronk's kick and weaves through some tackles to carry the ball away from his own line. The following set of six looks to have ended with Darius Boyd tackled in his own try area but somehow the Aussie ducks out.
