WHAT A FAREWELL THIS COULD BE FOR DANNY MCGUIRE?!

Joel Moon sent up an absolute peach of a kick, Ryan Hall and Greg Eden leapt for it, but the ball riccocheted loose off the Castleford winger.

Danny McGuire, as he has all his career, was on the spot to gather the loose ball and touch the ball down.

Bingo for Leeds. Castleford have a big mountain to climb.

The best thing about that kick is the height, the length - and then Ryan Hall arrives in a position to challenge Greg Eden, who lets the ball slip into Danny McGuire's hands.

Here’s a fact that might make for interesting reading – no side has ever failed to score a point in a Grand Final.

Daryl Powell’s men will want to avoid becoming the first team to end a Grand Final scoreless. The way things are going, they might break an unwanted record this evening.

But hey, let’s be positive, there’s half an hour left. It’s all to play for!

It looks like Castleford have taken a leaf out of Leeds' book - they were direct at the end of the set and the kick from Luke Gale has helped to build pressure.

He's got to get some energy in his team now and help them get through this defensive set.

Finally Castleford get a bit of front-foot ball and a few quick play-the-balls but Ben Roberts kick is sloppy into Leeds hands on the full.

However Anthony Mullally is rattled by a shot and Cas get the ball back. They need to make something count on the scoreboard. All or nothing.

Better from Castleford, thanks to a beast of a kick from Luke Gale, who turns the set from a plodder to a positive.

Leeds have to come from their 20 and Cas chase hard.

Adam Cuthbertson is coming back on for Leeds. It's during a break in play as Junior Moors had, believe it or not, knocked on.

Cas on red alert to shut down Stevie Ward. Leeds turn over close to the Tigers line. Luke Gale and Carl Ablett sharing a "few words".

Better from Castleford, who get to within 10 metres of the line but Ben Roberts' kick rattles off the shins of a Leeds player stood before him.

Leeds are bossing the ruck at the moment. To make sense of that comment, I mean that they are making sure that their team slows down the tackle when Cas have it, and are dictating the pace when they are tackled.

Daryl Powell's not a ranter or a raver, but he's a bloke who gets his message across.

There's a massive respect for him from his players, they need to show that on the field.

Brian McDermott will be satisfied but he'll know the threat that lurks. Leeds have lost eight on the bounce against Castleford.

This isn't an insurmountable distance for Castleford, but it becomes more difficult to chase the game in these conditions.

I don't think Castleford will be too disappointed - they've been renowned for their attack this season, but they've defended well and shouldn't be too unhappy.

At 6-0, they would have been happy - it's a crafty little bit of play that's made it 7-0.

Leeds are doing what they do - they're peaking and coming good at the time of year they come good.

Congrats to the Bulls. Good for something to cheer after a tough year for the men's team.

I think Castleford have been a little too lateral at times, but the errors have been things like the ball squeezing out from under people. Daryl Powell will have to encourage his players to settle down and find some fluency in attack - they've been outstanding in that department all season but they're faltering there now.

Danny McGuire showed his experience with the one-pointer. He's had a few fantastic moments. Leeds have settled down into Grand Final rugby quicker than Castleford, who have been scratchy and trying to manufacture chances. That was a really impressive performance from Leeds.

On the Tom Briscoe try that was chalked off, I think you have a right to compete for the ball. Leeds got back onto their direct gameplan again - tiring out the big Castleford defenders - and responded well.

A drop-goal from the veteran Danny McGuire. A fun end to a nervy first 40 minutes. Are Leeds anticipating an edgy low-scoring affair like last year’s Grand Final?

If so, that solitary point’s just given them the edge in my eyes. Every point counts and Cas will need to come out fighting when the two sides return.

What a first-half. So much going on, but only seven points to show for it.

Let's take a breather, as I don't think the pace will slacken.

Grab a cuppa, a pint, a water, an orange juice. Whatever, you need some hydration after that.

At half-time, I think both coaches will be thinking about ball control: keeping hold of the ball, getting to the end of their sets, then kicking long and chasing hard to build pressure on the opposition.

It's hard to argue Leeds don't deserve that. They've had the better field position. Castleford have looked threatening and dangerous at times but Leeds deserve that seven-point lead.
