Big take from Greg Eden a moment ago, to take the sting out of another kick.

Then Michael Shenton knocks on, loose carry. Castleford errors proving costly in the wrong areas of the field.

Leeds will be licking their lips.

    Castleford 0-6 Leeds

Leeds Rhinos turn Castleford round with a kick to touch in behind the defensive line. The kind of kick from Danny McGuire that riles big forwards who have bust a gut to get forward and press.

Big effort to turn back to your posts, breathe in the oxygen and prepare to pack down.

Territory against you. Cas will be smarting.

I think that's a massive psychological thing for Leeds, getting an early lead against a team who always start so well.

One thing I've noticed about Castleford is they've done a good job on Mitch Garbutt so far. He's their fulcrum, and gets them going on their sets - and they've stopped him getting under them.

The way Stevie Ward is running and carrying the ball has impressed me, too. There's no fear in anything he's doing.

Leeds have scored the opening try and it came from a kick by Danny McGuire out to the right side.

Tom Briscoe got ahead of Jy Hitchcox to claim it, and Hitchcox's attempt to strip the ball away only ended up in dragging team-mate Michael Shenton from the tackle, leaving Briscoe an easy finish.

Kallum Watkins tips over the conversion. Leeds lead. It's familiar territory for them.

Big test of Cas character now.

Well, they say the atmosphere on a Grand Final night has to be seen to be believed and those people aren’t kidding.

The noise here is deafening and both sets of fans are in fine voice. It’s a nervy affair so far but both the Cas fans to our left and the Leeds fans to our right are enjoying the occasion as it stands.

The rain is still beating down though and the surface is very slick. It remains to be seen who will use this to their advantage.

Leeds turn the screw! Ball was kicked in behind by Liam Sutcliffe and Greg Minikin can't gather and is pinned in-goal.

Drop out for the Tigers... Leeds have another set of six.

What Castleford have to do is stay disciplined and keen. They've invested so much energy in their line speed but they have to make sure they don't compromise that by giving away silly penalties.

That moment from Greg Eden was a snapshot of what Castleford have been all season - the ability to just attack in a snap.

Greg Eden thought he was away in broken field there but just knocked on! Agonising.

Play comes back for the scrum to Cas in their own half.

Phew. Not a second to breathe here.

Tom Briscoe draws in a booming Luke Gale kick to the left hand side and Leeds keep out Castleford again.

There's a searing pace to this. Cas seem to be dictating it so far but Leeds have the quality to have a bash in this style as well.

So far Greg Eden hasn't had a problem with kicks in behind so far. Not been tested as yet.

One of the first things I've noticed about Zak Hardaker's absence is Castleford are finding field position around the posts - and it's up to the full-back to decide where they want to go. Luke Gale was screaming for the ball and Greg Eden just didn't have the experience to see him.

Phew. Superb collect down low by Danny McGuire after a sliding kick in behind on the last.

Castleford threw plenty of shape at Leeds there, Jake Webster really close, but they were well shepherded in the end.

Couple of breakneck pace sets from both teams, some beast-mode carries and already we're seeing the ball skidding on the greasy turf.

Castleford putting on the pressure. They look pumped. No nerves so far.

As the smoke clears, the tension rises. All 26 players are poised and ready. Muscles taut.

James Child, taking his first Grand Final as referee, draws on his whistle.

Jack Walker thumps the ball downfield toward the Castleford players and we are underway.

    HAPPY GRAND FINAL DAY ALL!

It's a bit of futile exercise trying to explain how the players feel in the tunnel. It's nerves, excitement, anxiety - but when you walk out the tunnel, you know you're here to do business.

Their lead singer Johnny Borrell has about 50 effects pedals. Dunno why, they're hardly Metallica.

Now time for Jerusalem. Laura Wright turning her vocal chords to this one.

    Brian McDermottImage source, SWPIX.COM

Head coach Brian McDermott told BBC Radio Leeds:

"There is an inner-strength among my players at the moment. It only comes from extreme adversity. I think Castleford are a very strong team with loads going for them, and while we haven't reached the heights they have this year, we have an honesty that could be the difference today.

"This is part of a great story - if we win today, it will be a bestseller. The feeling of how good it will be drives us on.

"The motivation my boys have - they were jeered at, booed at. That's hard for the players. We'd be losing, getting turned over. I'd been there with London where we'd lose more games than we won, but it was a different dynamic. There weren't the expectations.

"My boys are scarred and you only heal those scars if you have a successful season. We've got a chance to put that to bed."
