  1. Half-timepublished at 09:54 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2017

    England 22-6 Lebanon

Kallum Watkins scuttles towards the right corner, arms flailing and legs pumping, but he can't squeeze inside the line amid some solid defence from the Cedars.

That's the hooter. England lead and look relatively in control of this one.

  2. NO TRYpublished at 09:52 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2017

    England 22-6 Lebanon

No try, an in-goal drop out instead - the pressure isn't over yet for Lebanon.

Abou-Sleiman did knock-on but then did manage to ground the ball before the English pursuers arrived.

  3. TRY REVIEWpublished at 39 mins

    England 22-6 Lebanon

We're going to the video referee again.

Ben Thaler says no try, but Elliott Whitehead thinks he's grounded from Gareth Widdop's kick after full-back Daniel Abou-Sleiman fails to hold the grubber.

  4. Postpublished at 38 mins

    England 22-6 Lebanon

Josh Hodgson flings a huge dummy, but it's not bought and the hooker is put down. England work it left though, and a loose pass falls to the feet of Ben Currie.

The Warrington man almost dribbles with his feet towards the line but it's well picked up and Lebanon briefly relieve the pressure - they've had to make 80 more tackles than Wayne Bennett's side in this first half.

  5. Postpublished at 35 mins

    England 22-6 Lebanon

The Lebanese penalties are starting to stack up now, and that's adding to the pressure on the Cedars.

Alex Walmsley is stopped short, then Gareth Widdop attempts to go himself but meets the same fate.

    England had men over there.

This is a big moment for England - Alex Walmsley has had to be patient but I'm really interested to see how he goes now he is on for his debut because I think he could be a huge bonus for England.

That's where Josh Hodgson is lethal - down the short side and picking out his back rower. He can blow you apart. Ben Currie read it and accepted it. That's where Hodgson has made his name in the NRL.

Currie is a star in the making, he has got size and skill.

Super play from Josh Hodgson. Hodgson's little deception was the key. Great try from Currie. England have done well to keep up the intensity with Lebanon's dropping.

  10. converted try

CONVERTED TRY - England 22-6 Lebanonpublished at 32 mins

    Ben Currie (32 mins)

The Lebanon defence parts, and Ben Currie saunters in for his first England try.

It's quick ball from Josh Hodgson to start the move, suck in his opposite man and offload to Currie, who has acres of space on the left to cruise into and touch down under very little pressure.

    Gareth Widdop adds the extras.

  11. Postpublished at 31 mins

    England 16-6 Lebanon

Well, Lebanon had pulled level and were applying a bit of pressure, but within 10 minutes find themselves 10 points adrift.

It's England who look more likely to add to the scoreboard, too. Jason Wehbe loses it for the Cedars and that gives England the scrum some 30 metres or so out.

Nearly perfect from England especially ball in hand. Sean O'Loughlin has been magnificent.

When Ryan Hall went through I was thinking they did not separate and you have to give him the benefit of the doubt.

That try showed the value of Sean O'Loughlin. The ball went from the 6 to the 13, a ball-playing 13, then to the 7 and England made a play out of it.

  14. try

TRY - England 16-6 Lebanonpublished at 27 mins

    Ryan Hall (27 mins)

That's given - but it's met with boos from the crowd in Sydney, and Robbie Farah isn't impressed either, having a lengthy chat with the referee.

Gareth Widdop misses his first of three conversions from right out on the touchline.

  15. TRY REVIEWpublished at 09:38 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2017

    Ryan Hall (27 mins)

England think they're over again, this time on the left through Ryan Hall.

Luke Gale flicks a pass left to John Bateman and he helps it on to Hall, who dives into the corner under pressure.

Was that a separation? Did he lose the ball? The referee says it's a try on the field, let's go to the video referee.

You just need to give these two outside backs on the right - Kallum Watkins and Jermaine McGillvary - one-on-one opportunities. The offload from Luke Gale opens up opportunity England created numbers on the right still don't execute and the Lebanon winger comes inside and tries to stop play, but can't hold Kallum Watkins. McGillvary will score everyday from there.

  17. 'Terrific play and terrific try'published at 09:36 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2017

Terrific play from England and terrific try from Jermaine McGillvary. They've done well there England. You've got to be able to soak up the pressure and hit a team on the counter attack and that's what they've done.

I don't think Lebanon have got the skill or speed to beat England but they are dangerous on that last tackle. Wayne Bennett will be disappointed with the ill-discipline and poor execution.

  19. converted try

CONVERTED TRY - England 12-6 Lebanonpublished at 09:33 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2017

    Jermaine McGillvary (24 mins)

England respond to some Lebanon pressure by soaring down the other end and retaking the lead.

This time it is Jermaine McGillvary, who speeds across the whitewash after some slick hands to work the extra man on the right.

    Gareth Widdop adds the conversion.

That Lebanon try has come on the back of what England have done. It is a terrific try and I must talk about what Lebanon did well, they were organised, moved the ball and it was a great kick into the in-goal.

But England didn't execute at the other end of the field, they didn't finish sets and were ill-disciplined.
