CONVERTED TRY - Wales 0-12 Irelandpublished at 31 mins

    Oliver Roberts (31 mins)

It's Oliver Roberts from close range, crashing over to increase Ireland's advantage just after the half hour.

A solid first set saw Api Pewhairangi stopped just short, but that penalty gave Ireland the position to go again and there is no stopping Roberts as he collects the ball within touching distance of the Welsh line to power home.

Another conversion stuck away by Liam Finn.

I'm not sure Courtney Davies meant that, but let's give the half-back the benefit of the doubt. He's just stuck a pin-point kick right on the white of the line to give Ireland a put-in at the scrum deep in their own half.

But every time Ireland get hands back on the ball, they're putting the Welsh under serious pressure.

Another set takes to within yards of the line. And a penalty will give Ireland another crack at it.

That's great running from Oliver Roberts as he draws in three Welsh tacklers on the half-way line.

Scott Grix joins the line at speed and helps it on to Liam Kay, but full-back Elliot Kear has the left winger's number - superb, thumping tackle to carry Kay into touch. He'll have felt that.

    Good defence from Wales.

The word is that Ireland number six Joe Keyes has a medial ligament strain of his right knee.

That is very likely to be the end of his afternoon.

Now it's a sea of red shirts desperately defending their line at the other end.

Ireland are stopped just short, before Liam Finn whips a long pass right with the chance of an overlap.

Ed Chamberlain stretches, but drops it at his feet.

Ireland have been on top but come up with some handling errors at crucial moments.

That is the first time we have seen anything from Regan Grace, it was a great finish, but a trailing foot was on the line.

A brilliant decision from the touch judge.

Yep - in addition to this match, we've got England v France coming up afterwards as part of this double header in Perth.

    Wales 0-6 Ireland

Well, the loss of Joe Keyes might just disrupt the Ireland momentum.

For the first time, Wales have good position close to the Ireland line after a high ball that Scott Grix doesn't deal with.

Gavin Bennion is wrapped up by that Ireland defence and Wales go left, but superb hands back to the right finds Regan Grace with a shot at the line wide out, the winger dives in one-handed, but he had a foot in touch.

That's the best we've seen from Wales so far today.

Wales have not been able to find a system that works, they have not had any continuity because of having to swap and tinker players throughout.

Api Pewhairangi is the Ireland try scorer, and he's proving a real handful. Wales are under the cosh, they've only had 39% of possession and have already recorded 13 missed tackles.

Ireland work it right to Joe Keyes, but the half-back is driven backwards and lands awkwardly. He's clutching his knee, and Keyes is going to be helped off. That looked painful.

It is a big blow for Ireland - he had been impressive in the halves.

Ireland are making good ground with every set, much more than their Welsh counterparts.

The likes of Liam Kay and Api Pewhairangi are finding space to get up to speed before hitting the Welsh tacklers.

It's a good recovery from Wales though, Courtney Davies getting to grips with Kay at the second attempt. That'll be a Wales scrum.

Ireland are really targeting Wales hooker Steve Parry. They have gone at him three times so far and identified him as a weak link in the side.

Wales are looking tired already and I am worried for them. Carries from players like Kyle Amor for Ireland are really starting to hurt them.

This ball is spilling all over the shop.

Anthony Mullally powers forward for Ireland but is felled just short of the line, and Ireland look to fling it wide right.

Slick hands find Shannon McDonnell, but the Ireland winger can't gather. Let off for Wales.

That's more creative from the Welsh, deft hands from Josh Ralph with Morgan Knowles backing up as they break into the Ireland half, but the second-rower's attempt at a one-handed offload bobbles loose and forward.

Philip Joseph is penalised for Wales, and that gives Ireland another chance.

Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook takes the ball at speed, but it's good scrambling defence from Regan Grace and a bumper tackle to knock the ball loose too.

Can the Welsh do something productive with this set? They get their first penalty, and that'll give them some ground.

Ireland are on the offensive again with another set that ends with a high boot into the sunny Perth sky from Liam Finn.

Regan Grace deals with this one well. Safe hands from the Wales winger.

Wales need to stem the flow of Irish attacks a little though.

Michael McIlorum has looked dangerous from the start of the game. He has been teasing Wales from dummy half. He sliced the markers in half and put in Api Pewhairangi.

Ireland have edged the opening stages with field position, if you are on top in that department, you can control the game.

McIlorum is not blessed with pace, but he is blessed with super deception and skill.

It's a lovely little break from Michael McIlorum and superb hands from the hooker too.

He skips forward before putting Api Pewhairangi clear from close range to scoot over the try line and touch down.

Liam Finn sticks the extras on.

    Wales 0-0 Ireland

Ireland are asking questions with their sets. Another deep kick that has Regan Grace scrambling back beyond his own line, but the winger lets that bounce out of play.

Wales go for a similar approach at the other end, but a high ball from Courtney Davies comes to nothing as it bobbles beyond the sticks. Lively start to this one.
