England have got size, power and skill, but they have to cut out the errors to go all the way through this tournament?

England I think will be a bit disappointed in themselves so far. I think they know they're clearly a better team than PNG but I think coach Wayne Bennett will be disappointed with how much ball has been spilled.

Couple of early drives puts England in a decent spot.

The kick pins PNG in their 20. Not a bad start. And England have the ball back.

England's Lionesses had a tougher time of it in their game against the Australia Jillaroos. They lost 38-0 in Sydney. They're the holders to be fair... report to come on BBC Sport.

Anyway, teams back out. Not long to go. Big 40 ahead.

I think Sean O'Loughlin is central to everything England do. He can carry the ball like a pro and every time he touches it for England, opportunities are created.

This side is capable of doing more. Ironing those errors out, the performance will improve dramatically. The English forwards are battering PNG.

Against Australia you cannot make these types of mistakes.

    England 14-0 Papua New Guinea

    Kevin Sinfield

Our defence for this whole competition has been outstanding and how far we go will be based on that, but we cannot afford to keep making errors.

We're inviting PNG to attack us. We just need to be better.

We can come out and stay in third gear and get the job done but we want more than that.

In these types of games when it's hot, the ball gets greasy. but I'm not making excuses, we have to be better.

England are not making errors by overplaying. They are errors which are just unforced, little ones that are just a bit scratchy - and they are dangerous because they stop you playing when you should. When England did get things right, they scored points.

  16. Reaction from the playerspublished at 06:00 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November 2017

HT: England 14-0 Papua New Guinea

Both sides will be bemoaning a gargantuan error count at half-time.

England have a completion rate of just 52%, with PNG far higher at 81%.

12 errors from England, six by PNG.

England stand-off Kevin Brown said: "We gave too much ball away and turned it over too many times. We made it difficult, Wayne will not be happy about those errors."

And it was a similar theme from Papua New Guinea.

Forward Paul Aiton said: "Playing against a world class side like England, you can't give away so many errors. Ball security and lazy penalties, we can't afford to do it."

  17. What areas do England need to fix?published at 05:58 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November 2017

For starters, completion rate is 52%. That's a coach-killer. Especially in the structured, meticulous world of the NRL which Wayne Bennett operates.

The 12 errors at half-way have been pretty sloppy. Forward passes, knock-ons... fix up the execution of the basics and we'll go alright.

  18. Half-timepublished at 05:55 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November 2017

    England 14-0 Papua New Guinea

Three tries, none in reply. On the surface of it a satisfactory opening half for the England team but there are definitely areas to fix up.

Defensively, Wayne Bennett's side were all good but too many errors.

    Much to build on.

I can't stress it enough but 10 errors in the first half and a completion rate of 55%. If you had hair you'd be pulling it out by now.
