    Wigan 8-4 Warrington

    Iestyn Harris
Former Great Britain and Wales international on BBC Radio 5 live

Warrington will have to score next, you don't want to allow Wigan to get two scores ahead of you because it's very difficult to claw them back.

  2. CLOSE!published at 34 mins

    Wigan 8-4 Warrington

Wigan hold up a scampering Daryl Clark! The hooker could almost stretch out his arm and score but is just short.

They are unable to make the position pay further, and turnover but it's down in Wigan's end.

  3. KNOCK ON BY WIGANpublished at 32 mins

    Wigan 8-4 Warrington

Wigan have coughed the ball up cheaply off the kick-off. Warrington in range...

They land blows on the Wigan defensive line, with the goalline in sight... Wigan block and shove bodies in the way.

The set comes to an end, Wigan turnover.

  4. try

TRY: Wigan 8-4 Warringtonpublished at 31 mins

    Tom Davies

Wigan shift the ball to the right, no go. Come back to the middle and then the ball lands into the hands of George Williams about 30 metres out.

It doesn't look like much danger but Williams has vision, he combines with his winger to arrow an inch-perfect grubber into the space behind and Tom Davies wins the footrace to score.

Another miss by Tomkins. Four point ball-game.

  5. TRY REVIEW - Wiganpublished at 31 mins

    Wigan 4-4 Warrington

Wigan get a bit of field position. George Williams loves a broken line, slides a kick in behind that Tom Davies chases...

Do the Cherry and Whites have a second?

  6. 'Big Mistake from Goodwin'published at 30 mins

    Wigan 4-4 Warrington

    Ray French
    BBC Radio Merseyside commentator

That Manfredi try was a problem from Bryson Goodwin. He went in too early and he went for the wrong man. He automatically gave Wigan a two-to-one on the outside with Gildart and Manfredi there.

It really was a big mistake from Goodwin. He raced in, he missed the man he went for and it was all over.

That is exactly the same miss from a conversion by Sam Tomkins as I mentioned in the warm-up (see 17:26).

Scuffed from the right-hand side past the far post.

Pretty poor for a kicker of his calibre.

    Wigan 4-4 Warrington

The pace really hasn't shown any signs of abating. The linespeed from both teams has been robotic in its pace and intensity. Like a factory line label press, just keeps chugging away.

Both sides have brought on interchanges. Freshening up those big middles.

    Few errors creeping in now.

  9. 'Wire have taken their one opportunity'published at 27 mins

    Wigan 4-4 Warrington

    Robbie Hunter-Paul
Former New Zealand international on BBC Radio 5 live

What Wigan do very well, probably better than any other Super League team, is get you in your own quarter and then strangle the life out of you to stop you from getting up the field.

Warrington have taken the one opportunity that has come their way.

  10. try

TRY: Wigan 4-4 Warringtonpublished at 25 mins

    Dom Manfredi

He said he wanted to do it for his gaffer Shaun Wane and Dom Manfredi gives Wigan a huge route back into the game.

It was a sliding, classic Wigan move away to the right edge but it owed so much to Oliver Gildart, who dummied through as the ball was expected to go wide, stepping into the space.

Then as Warrington closed in on him, the England call-up popped a perfect pass to Manfredi to cross out in the right corner.

Sam Tomkins misses off the tee. It's a tough night for the kickers. Level.

    Wigan 0-4 Warrington

Madness? Naiveity? Bravery? Wigan trying to chuck the ball around in their own 10 in a desperate attempt for an exit strategy.

Wigan finally finish their set in Warrington territory. Tommy Leuluai got the kick away, he's clobbered by a late arriving Bodene Thompson and the subsequent high-shot earns a relieving penalty.

    Banged to touch... danger?

  12. 'Tomkins was lucky with the trip'published at 22 mins

    Wigan 0-4 Warrington

    Paul Highton
Former Salford and Wales forward, BBC Radio Manchester

On a big occasion like this, things do get out of hand and there's little snap reactions but a trip isn't a snap reaction.

At no point in rugby league do you throw a leg out, unless you're kicking a ball into dead.

I do think he's a bit lucky there.

    Wigan 0-4 Warrington

Warrington sizing Wigan up from all angles and lines but just can't add a second.

Chris Hill and Mike Cooper are in savage moods. It's been steam-hammer like in their aggression rumbling forward.

Bryson Goodwin almost clambered his way through but was just about cut down.

Wigan get it back but only get to their own 40 on the corresponding set.

  14. 'Warrington are looking the better side'published at 20 mins

    Wigan 0-4 Warrington

    Jon Wilkin
Former England forward on BBC Radio 5 live

Wigan have had all of the field position but couldn't come up with anything and Warrington have defended extremely well.

There were a couple of errors from Warrington early on with the ball but as soon as they got field position on the right-hand edge, Josh Charnley goes in the corner.

It's great start for the Wolves and they are looking the better side.

    Wigan 0-4 Warrington

Kevin Brown's kick on the last has Wigan desperately sliding across, but it bounces out for a 20-metre tap.

There've been some really good drives by Warrington's forwards, notably hooker Daryl Clark who has the ability to become a hot knife through butter in these situations.

Penalties stacking up against Wigan. Sean O'Loughlin and Tony Clubb pinged for a shot on Josh Charnley.

    Wigan 0-4 Warrington

Wigan come fingertips away from a scoring chance as a really testing Sam Tomkins kick was chased hard by Dom Manfredi, who spilled in the act of catching.

Meanwhile, bit of judo-style chopdown by Tomkins on Bryson Goodwin sparks a mini-melee. Foot was in, so was his arm.

Penalty for a trip. Tomkins seethes as he sprints back to his mark.

Loud boos from the Wigan fans after former player Josh Charnley's name was read out as the first try scorer in the game.

Super start by the Wire in 2018 but we've been here before haven't we Wire fans?

    2013 - led at half-time. Lost.

    2016 - led at half-time. Lost.

Job ain't done yet. I'm sure Steve Price will be more than aware of that. His players too.

  20. try

TRY: Wigan 0-4 Warringtonpublished at 13 mins

    Josh Charnley

How they made that pay!? And who else to score? Josh Charnley had to score!

Warrington worked a sumptuous play to the right edge, taking the ball into the line, sucking players in off the touchline and Stefan Ratchford looped a stunner over the top to pick him out.

That was beautifully worked. Charnley scored here in 2016 of course... for Wigan.

Tyrone Roberts missed the goal. Could be key.
