The teams are beginning to make their way out onto the pitch at Headingley, which has already hosted one match today, and it can mean only one thing.

That's right, I've got moments to finish this bag of crisps before this game gets going!

    Huddersfield v Leeds (18:30 BST)

Both sides name players who will face their former clubs this evening, with Leeds having former Huddersfield hooker Kruise Leeming available for the first time since his move to Headingley.

Meanwhile Tom Briscoe returns from a cruciate ligament injury sustained in August of last year.

Leeds: Myler, Briscoe, Newman, Hurrell, Handley, Gale, Lui, Seumanufagai, Dwyer, Oledzki, Mellor, Martin, Prior.

    Interchanges: Smith, Donaldson, Cuthbertson, Leeming.

    Interchanges: Holmes, Wilson, Matagi, Murphy.

  4. 'Six again' impact interests Rhinos boss Agarpublished at 18:20 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

    Huddersfield v Leeds (18:30 BST)

We've already had our first taste of 'six again' and now it's the turn of Leeds and Huddersfield of course to see how it impacts on their meeting.

Leeds Rhinos boss Richard Agar has been an interested observer of how it played out down under, and has already been in dialogue with the match officials to enquire about interpretation.

"I watch a lot of NRL and seen it impact in different ways," Agar told BBC Radio Leeds.

"I've seen it refereed from one game to the next very differently, tackles wiped off for six again and then looked at another 10 in the same game that haven't.

"We had a referee in yesterday and with edicts coming round, the message we got back is - whatever would have been a penalty will be six again, and where the referee can manage the situation he will let the game flow."

  5. Woolford expects Giants effort, not precisionpublished at 18:17 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

Head coach Simon Woolford is not expecting Huddersfield Giants to be at their sharpest in their first game since March, but wants a repeat of their early-season effort.

The Giants won four of the opening five games, including victory at champions St Helens and away to Catalans, to put themselves among the early front-runners.

After laughing off 'home advantage' to Leeds in their trip to Headingley on Sunday, the affable Aussie admitted he could accept a bit of "clunkiness" about his side's execution.

"It's important to get something," Woolford told BBC Radio Leeds. "But I'm not going to expect my team to play their best footy on the weekend and I don't think many coaches will.

"As long as we see the same effort we had at the start of the season, we looked over footage of how we looked in the first weeks of the competition, I don't think we'll have any issues over effort and attitude."

    Huddersfield v Leeds (18:30 BST)

Thanks Matt. And what an honour it is to have some rugby league to report on after such a long absence!

We turn our attention to a fixture which, prior to the suspension of the season, tipped two of this season's form teams against each other.

It's sure to be a cracker.

So the champions showed real class in the end.

Now, it's West Yorkshire's turn to enjoy the Super League return.

Jay Freeman will take you through this one between Huddersfield Giants and Leeds Rhinos.

    FT: St Helens 34-6 Catalans

St Helens boss Kristian Woolf told Sky Sports:

"I'm really happy with them, we knew they'd worked hard and had been good last couple of weeks.

"Just before half-time we defended three or four sets in a row, and then in the second half we could have allowed things to get easier we kept defending.

    "There were really good signs."

    FT: St Helens 34-6 Catalans

Catalans made a flying start but could not live with the pace in the end.

The Dragons were pulled apart once Lachlan Coote got the first points and their one try from James Maloney was the only response.

Arthur Mourgue was a highlight, but Steve McNamara's side must overcome their travel sickness before September's raft of home games.

    FT: St Helens 34-6 Catalans

St Helens, much like their NRL counterparts the Sydney Roosters did in the NRL, bounce back after the restart with a performance befitting their status.

Lachlan Coote was influential but you could say the same for any number of Saints players.

    Some tough stuff in particular.

Five minutes in Catalans were looking good, Saints got a penalty and from that point, for a spell in the first half, they were flawless.

That's the impressive thing, how cohesive they were. It's not what you'd expect after a spell of disrupted training.

That was more like champion best from St Helens. Back to optimum performance.

Catalans could not live with that kind of intensity.

Few loose tackles going in, in the late evening sunshine.

Catalans perspiring and desperately throwing shots.

Saints go for the spectacular but Jonny Lomax's pass drifts forward like something from the NFL.

Saints hitting Catalans with combinations to bedazzle and bedraggle.

If Alex Walmsley isn't chugging up the guts, then Regan Grace is toe-tapping his way through. It's bewitching.

Then another opportunity goes begging. Big kick causes havoc. So many hands, no one wanted to finish it off and even Tommy Makinson knocks on with the line beckoning.

Credit to Arthur Mourgue, he did try to stop Alex Walmsley there on his way to the line.

The most impressive thing, is not even the interchanges have had a devastating impact on the Saints. You could say they're not quite as slick when James Roby's not on the field but Aaron Smith is doing a decent job.

    Alex Walmsley, Lachlan Coote goal

I said seeing Alex Walmsley coming forward was an ominious sight, and it has proved thus for St Helens against the Catalans Dragons.

The Saints steamroller shunted Julian Bousquet out of the way en route to the goalline and brushed further cover aside to put the icing on the cake.

    Like a tank. POWER.

If there's ever a sight to douse your optimism and strip your energy, it's Alex Walmsley pounding downfield toward you with full energy at the 66-minute mark.

Catalans defenders just had to deal wih that.

They survived though, then got a penalty after James Graham coughs up a bit of loose play.

James Bentley gets in a little spat with Julian Bousquet after he jammed a palm in his face at the ruck.
