Up to 1,000 fans will be permitted at four Super League fixtures on Wednesday, 30 September, as part of the government's latest crowd pilot events.

The derby between Wigan Warriors and St Helens has been selected, along with home games for Castleford Tigers, Huddersfield Giants and Leeds Rhinos.

The move came on Thursday after both rugby league and rugby union were granted permission by government to hold a limited amount of fixtures with fans in attendance.

Kick-off times are still to be confirmed, however.

    FT: Warrington 20-18 St Helens

    Jon Wilkin
Ex-St Helens captain on BBC One

"You ride your luck, don't you? There's an element of good fortune.

"Whether that is forward off Gelling's head (leading to Charnley's second score), a try or not, that could have gone anywhere. It landed in Charnley's hands and once he got that ball it was inevitable that he would finish.

"What Warrington did exceptionally well today was defend and defend with some resilience."

St Helens captain James Roby told BBC Sport:

"It was a really tough game. The scoreline suggests that. There was a lapse in concentration and we let them get some momentum in the second half.

"We did well in the second half, we completed our sets well and put pressure on them.

"You can't afford to be off it one bit in those games and that can cost you. One slip or a missed tackle. Warrington are a quality team."

  7. 'We're still alive'published at 16:24 British Summer Time 19 September 2020

    FT: Warrington 20-18 St Helens

Warrington coach Steve Price told BBC Sport:

"It was a good game of footy. A good hard game. Two team going at it.

"There were tough conditions in the second half and the wind didn't allow us much field position.

"Anthony Gelling was outstanding. Best game he's played since being at Warrington. He's worked extremely hard on his game.

"We had a number of sets on out try-line and they kept turning away, Saints are a quality team but we're still alive in the cup which is pleasing."

    The holders are through! Just.

A fabulous 80 minutes and rugby league at its best. Two teams going at it and tremendous entertainment.

Credit to Warrington who battled their way through that one but St Helens gave them a hell of a game.

A late tackle from Matty Lees sees St Helens penalised deep in their own half and this is not what they need.

Mike Cooper is two yards from the Saints try-line and he spills and knocks on.

Can St Helens capitalise in these dying moments?!

Next score wins unless Warrington hold out. There's a break in play as Josh Charnley clutches his right wrist.

He looks in a bit of discomfort but opts to play on. The clock is running down and Saints need a bit of magic, here.

Drop-goals in either code should be banned. If you want to score, do it properly.

Andrew: Busiest man at the AJ Bell is the video referee. Belting match though! Another golden point game perhaps?

Andy: Now "momentum" is out of the equation and forward passes are judged by the direction of the ball as it leaves the hands, it's time to let the VR judge forward passes.

Griff: I'll see @JiffyRugby, external suggestion that knocks-on should be given even if from a player's head. And I'll raise him that knocks-on should be abolished from rugby league. The attacking team gains nothing from them so just allow them.

    Kevin Naiqama

Saints win another set of six deep in Warrington territory and Lachlan Coote offloads to Kevin Naiqama in the corner and he gets it down.

Chris Kendall wants the video ref to take a look but there's nothing wrong with it and Saints are back in this.

I have no idea why the video ref needed to get involved in that, looked clean as anything. Lachlan Coote misses the extras.

That second Josh Charnley try is yet another huge talking point out of this cracker of a quarter-final!

    Jonathan Davies
Former GB international on BBC One

"It's a try, you can't change it. But they get lucky.

"That goes forward and I think it should be a law change because it is a technical knock on. But as it stands, that is a try and they needed that."

    Warrington 20-14 St Helens

Just another word on Josh Charnley's try, after the ball cannons off Anthony Gelling's head, the direction of travel of the ball is definitely forward before Charnley gets his hands on it.

The pass was played backwards perfectly fine, to be clear. But luck was on Warrington's side there.

It's a one-try game, can St Helens come back in the final 13 minutes?

    Josh Charnley

Josh Charnley has the ball down for Warrington after a deflected pass falls into his hands after rebounding off the head of Anthony Gelling.

Chris Kendall goes to the video referee after initially giving the try and it's eventually given. Not sure how I feel about that but that being said, there's no reason why it can't be given.

    Stefan Ratchford misses the extras.
