"I'm gutted we can't celebrate with the fans and our friends and families but we'll have our time. It's been an honour to play for Saints."

St Helens captain James Roby told BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra:

"Unbelievable to finish it in that manner, Tommy kicks the goal and we're just watching and thinking 'oh no it's missed' and then next minute Jack pops up and scores a try so, a moment of magic and one that will go down in history.

"Full credit to Wigan for the game that they brought, the score line suggested how close it was but we hung in there right until the end and I'm made up for young Jack Welsby."

  8. 'An unreal way to win'published at 22:09 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2020

    FT: Wigan 4-8 St Helens

St Helens head coach Kristian Woolf told Sky Sports:

"It was unreal. It just shows you don't give up on any play. A young kid playing his first Grand Final and he's a real player for the future.

"To score a try like that to win a Grand Final, it doesn't get much better than that.

"I didn't think we were quite as good with the ball tonight. It was a tough game. We knew it would be low scoring as both teams defend well and we knew one try might win it."

  9. 'Surreal and heartbreaking'published at 22:06 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2020

"It was down to the last minute of the play. It's the best defensive Grand Final. It was tough."

Wigan captain Sean O'Loughlin told Sky Sports:

"I don't think I'll ever top anything like that in my career for my hometown, it's amazing."

    What a game!

You've got to admire both teams.

This has been a game of the highest quality with the highest intensity, a fitting end to the season but you've got to feel sorry for Wigan because I thought they were magnificent.

But you've got to admire Saints' attitude and the tenacity to come through this.

This has been the greatest Grand Final up to now, no doubt!

St Helens captain and Harry Sunderland Trophy winner James Roby told Sky Sports:

"It's unbelievable. The way the game ended. Full credit to Wigan, it was a really tough game.

"Jack deserves it for his magic at the end out of nowhere. We were teeing up for sudden death and he does that, it's unbelievable.

"Tommy called for it and he struck it sweetly and it took a lucky bounce but I'm chuffed for Jack."
