"I really believe England can go on and win this. I counted six mistakes from them in the first half. If they can cut them out then they have a real chance."

Ian Balshaw reveals he has a bet with former France forward Sebastian Chabal and will have to sing La Marseillaise in front of hundreds of sponsors if England lose. The former England back is laughing though so maybe he's confident of an England comeback. A number of empty seats around the stadium. The fans have yet to return to their spots after the break but the players at least have.

England failed to score a try in their two away games last season so at least they've improved on that this year. A number of errors from the visitors in the first half, but they have put themselves in a position to make amends for that in the second left. Plenty of plots and subplots, twists and turns, left in this match you sense.

    Jeremy Guscott
Former England centre on BBC One

"There's been lots of opportunities for England but the frustration is that they have been getting in good positions and making silly errors. I honestly feel France have lived off England's mistakes."

"The English character has come through and the last 10 or 15 minutes of the half was all England. They need a big half-time team talk and they have to believe they can win this game. There's a lot of character in this team."

    Tom Fordyce
Chief sports writer at the Stade de France

"A harum-scarum first half that France threatened to run away with before Brown's ducking, diving finish gave England fresh hope. Neither kicker has yet found their finest range, but England will be glad to be in touch after 40 minutes in which they made too many errors and never exerted sustained control."

"England are playing the better rugby, while France have scored their tries thanks to opportune bounces. England are right back in this game, though I would have liked to have taken that penalty just before half-time."

Owen Farrell is wide with the attempted drop goal and, as the ball sails out of play, referee Nigel Owens toots his whistle to end an intriguing half.

Two minutes remaining of this half and England can see the light. The visitors' white jerseys are now muddied, which is the sign of hard work I suppose. Owen Farrell, dirt on his shirt, sets his backline rolling... England attempting to bulldoze their way forward again.

Conor:, external That is why you select Danny Care. Best nine in world rugby.

Daniel Whitehead:, external What a finish!

Jonnie Horden:, external Well done Danny Care - Dawson-esque on the tap and go. Also great finish by Mike Brown with half the French rugby team on his back.

    Brian Moore
Former England hooker on BBC One

"Something out of nothing there and hugely welcome from England's point of view. Danny Care provided the spark and that is good work from Mike Brown who, although close to the line, had a lot to do."

"Wow! Brilliant finish by England! Well done Danny Care, as alert as ever. Vunipola gave it to Brown with four French players around him, but he cut inside and knew exactly where the line was, and could just touch down."

Danny Care side-steps and shuffles before England work it wide. From Billy Vunipola to Mike Brown and the full-back bursts through a blue-shirted wall and dives over for his first international try. Owen Farrell faces a tricky touchline conversion and he's a whisker wide of the near post.

Courtney Lawes makes inroads down the blindside... Danny Care then switches play... "Allez Les Bleu" scream the home fans... England so close they can smell the whitewash (not that I'm saying there's an iffy odour around the tryline) but England come away with nothing.

"It's chaotic out there and England need to regain control and escape from their back line. Take a breath, England! How quick is it out there?"

Yannick Nyanga this time pumping his legs through the middle of the pitch but Owen Farrell is covering and the visitors can breathe easily again, but for how long no-one quite knows.

Hang on, Brice Dulin kicks ahead, the ball is bouncing, the full-back is chasing, but the ball clips the flag before eventually bobbling out of play. That was another warning to England, however.

Louis Picamoles thunders forwards to give his team forward momentum. Joyous handling from the hosts even if they have yet to add a touch of oh la la.

Plenty of errors, but plenty of attacking intent in a match which is being played at a helter-skelter pace. Scrum-half Jean-Marc Doussain fumbles the ball after seeing Billy Twelvetrees heading his way. Cool heads needed out there. But England's scrum is wobbling. England are penalised. England are below par.
