Former Wales international Shane Williams has shown his support to the losing side...
South Africa 23-19 Wales
South Africa's back-row were immense. They took the game to Wales, working off the front foot and causing all manner of problems.
We have already looked at Duane Vermeulen's contribution but Schalk Burger should not be overlooked.
He had 26 carries - the highest of any player on the pitch - and also ran an impressive 55m.

Former outside-half Jonathan Davies has his say on Twitter. Wales have performed gallantly in this tournament, but they weren't quite good enough to beat the Southern Hemisphere big guns.
South Africa's number eight Duane Vermeulen was crucial to victory.
Not only was he the highest metre-maker in the game - that's normally one of the flyers in the back three - he made 15 carries and produced two off-loads, one of which was the gem that set up Fourie du Preez for the match-winning try.

Wales are out of this Rugby World Cup. But Warren Gatland's men seem to have won rugby hearts with that performance.

Quote MessageThat was a superb performance from Wales. Twickenham has not seen many games like it. I don't think Wales could have done any more, they didn't have anything left to give."
One of the game's greats has his say on a tense encounter.
What if Jonathan Davies was playing? What if Scott Williams was fit? What if Rhys Webb could take to the field? Or if Warren Gatland could pick Liam Williams?
We'll never know if Wales could have beaten South Africa with their first-choice team, but the men who were on the field ran the two-time champions close.
South Africa have long forgotten about that stunning defeat by Japan, although they'll always be reminded of it. They're into the semi-finals. France or the All Blacks beckon.

Quote MessageWales's defence was brilliant but under pressure you have to make the right decisions. Alex Cuthbert has been found wanting time after time defensively."
A crestfallen Alun Wyn Jones is on his knees, breathing heavily. The lock can only look to the turf. If he looks up perhaps defeat will become a reality.
Wales suffer another agonising defeat to a southern hemisphere powerhouse. They will not replicate the feats of 2011 and reach a World Cup semi-final, but their defending in that match was nevertheless extraordinary.

Former Wales scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live
Quote MessageStatistically South Africa won this hands down but that doesn't paint the whole picture. Wales are heartbroken after the effort they put in. Their defence was immense from start to finish. We mentioned Gareth Davies going off and Dan Biggar going off... Biggar was distraught coming off. He seemed to take a bump. That made a big difference."

Wales were leading heading into the last 10 minutes, but games aren't won after 70 minutes, which is a pity if you support Wales.
