South Africa seem a little bit rattled. It's not quite happening for them. All of a sudden they force it and give a couple of penalties away. Wales have a real chance of winning this if they can keep their composure."

There's no point playing the second half then, is there?

And breathe...it's a classic 40 minutes of knockout rugby. And it was a knockout.

If this is what the quarter-finals are going to be like then this is going to be an unforgettable weekend of rugby.

There's a real buzz in this ground at half-time. I'm not sure the fans of either side can believe the intensity and endeavour.

And we can breathe. For 10 minutes at least. The good news is, the tension is only going to increase. The bad news is, the tension is only going to increase.

"Frenetic, exhausting stuff at Twickenham. Errors everywhere, half-chances, near-misses, huge crunching hits."

Last play of the half and it's Wales who have put-in at the scrum on South Africa's 22m. The set-piece is firm. Promising. Jamie Roberts charges ramrod straight... Wales recycle, Dan Biggar standing deep, lining up the dropper and he hits it true!

The outside-half punches the air and Wales trot towards their dressing room in the lead.

Tackle after tackle... there's a lot of tired bodies out there but Wales have got a 10 minute half-time break to look forward to."

  10. Missed penaltypublished at 39 min

    South Africa 12-10 Wales

Prop Tendai Mtawarira  is offside, which will give Dan Biggar the chance to test his range 5m inside South Africa's half.

The outside-half goes through his idiosyncratic routine... looks at his target... boot to ball but his effort grazes the uprights... It had the distance, but not the accuracy.

  13. Cost of ill-disciplinepublished at 37 min

    South Africa 12-10 Wales

All of South Africa's points have come from the boot of Handre Pollard.

And Wales are making it too easy for the number 10, gifting him four penalties (show in white on the image below) in their half.

The black spot shows Dan Biggar's penalty.

Wales on the front foot... but they then lose possession on the floor. "Stand up, Reds, you've lost possession," says Wayne Barnes. Sam Warburton caught isolated as he was brought down by two beefy South Africans.

  15. South Africa 12-10 Walespublished at 35 min

The ball spending some time in the air as the full-backs exchange kicks... Sam Warburton driving Lodewyk De Jager back and the Wales captain nicks the ball. A super human effort from the flanker.

South Africa are leading on the scoreboard and also now in the possession stats.

The Welsh penalty count is up to six, compared to three conceded by the Boks.

Wales are also making more tackles (48 to 29) while the Boks have run 165m in attack compared to Wales' 118m.

South Africa's back-row of Schalk Burger, Francois Louw and Duane Vermeulen are seeing plenty of the ball with 92m made between them.

Wales wing George North has run 53m with the ball already this match.

Duane Vermeulen needs to clean things up at the base of a  turning scrum... he somehow pops the ball to Fourie du Preez, who notices George North in No Man's Land... JP Pietersen chases the scrum-half's canny crossfield kick but, thankfully for the men in red, the ball evades the winger and bounces into touch.

South Africa's forwards content to drive from the line-out, but they make inches rather than yards. Fourie du Preez with the grubber... Gareth Anscombe collects, weaves from one defender, his team-mates come to support him... Wales' defence made of titanium.
