  1. South Africa 6-0 Walespublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 17 October 2015

Wales started well, taking the game to South Africa. They have dominated possession and made the most metres with the ball, 72m to the Springboks' 20m.

But crucially the Welsh did not bring back any points from their forays into the Boks' half.

Instead they have conceded two penalties which have been punished by the boot of Handre Pollard.

  2. Penalty - Pollardpublished at 10 min

    South Africa 6-0 Wales

First scrum of the match. South Africa with the put-in. Wales' scrum, though, which has been retreating for most of the tournament, is tree trunk still on this occasion.

Another short, sharp shrill from Wayne Barnes' whistle. Alun Wyn Jones not moving away from the tackle and Wales' indiscipline proving costly. Handre Pollard punishes them.

It's a tricky one for the South Africa outside-half, wide right, but between the uprights Handre Pollard's effort sails.

It's South Africa's turn to string together phases.  Space opens up for Damian de Allende but he's gang tackled by Jamie Roberts and Alun Wyn Jones... the ball comes back, though, and George North is caught holding on to the player. A chance for Handre Pollard to aim at the sticks.

South Africa having to withstand wave after wave of red-shirted attack. Wales dominating possession and territory. A superb start.

Taulupe Faletau attempting to make hard yards around the 22m, but he's caught isolated and Wayne Barnes' whistle toots in South Africa's favour.

That's an opportunity missed. Wales should have scored. There was so much space on the left hand side."

Forget about that passage of play because George North is snorting down the left wing, he evades one defender and Wales recycle...

Wales spin it to the other side, but it's Gethin Jenkins who's left to pull the strings out wide and that's no place for a prop. His pass loops over Tyler Morgan when the centre had the tryline at his mercy.

  10. South Africa 0-0 Walespublished at 2 min

South Africa the first to mess things up at the breakdown, which gives Dan Biggar the chance to eat up acres for Wales with a mighty touchfinder. Sam Warburton safe in the line-out... outside-half Biggar with a cute chip over South Africa's defence...

First song to blare out of the jukebox? South Africa's jaunty anthem and there seems to be a few at Twickenham who have heard this little number before.

Next on the shuffle play list is a well-known tune to rugby fans  - Land of my Fathers. It isn't isn't sung as vociferously as the first anthem but that doesn't mean it doesn't tug at the heart strings. I'm sure there was a tear from Jamie Roberts there.

Tyler Morgan has had a couple of starts and I'm hoping he can hit the ground running, and settles down quickly. If I was a coach of the opposition I'd look at his lack of experience and try and exploit that."

Lots of different coloured footwear on show as both teams warm up at Twickenham... Dan Biggar opting for the bumble bee look.

I remember in 2000 I wore a pair of silver boots...the reaction was I should never play the game again and banned from the sport. Now I see a different colour on each foot."

"South Africa split into backs and forwards as the pre-match drills continue and Twickenham gradually fills up.

"Wales are all together and appear to have their entire squad warming up at the opposite end of the famous pitch. The atmosphere is beginning to build."

  18. It's going to be gruesome - Robertspublished at 15:50

South Africa v Wales (16:00 BST)

Blood, gore, battered bones and grizzled features. Halloween is coming early to Twickenham,

Jamie Roberts, his country's most capped centre, has been talking about his previous experiences of playing the Springboks, recalling the brutality of the Lions series against South Africa in 2009. (Look away now if you're of a delicate disposition.)

"I’ll never forget the second Lions Test at Loftus Versfeld in 2009 when there were five of us in the hospital afterwards," he says.

“That’s what lies in store for us this weekend. It’s pretty gruesome but that’s the nature of the game now. You’ve got to be prepared to put your body on the line and take it to places you haven’t been before."

  19. Don't tackle like Johnsonpublished at 15:47

Rob Brydon - other Welsh comedians are available - has made reference to mayor of London Boris Johnson so we might as well mention it.

Boris was a little too enthusiastic while playing rugby against schoolchildren in Japan this week, flattening a 10-year-old boy in a no contact game in Tokyo. (Note the no contact bit, Boris...)

  20. How tall is tall?published at 15:46

South Africa v Wales (16:00 BST)

Ah. Mr Brydon himself is making reference to his height. He's actually a towering 6ft 1in, he says, which means the Springboks are in trouble against Wales' Brobdingnagians.
