Ben Dirs was the man struggling to keep count with the All Blacks' tries for the BBC tonight.

His report has just landed on the site.

Sample quote: "While the French simply did not have the requisite talent or a game-plan to trouble New Zealand, the performance of Steve Hansen's side was undoubtedly the most impressive of the tournament so far."

I think that just about sums this evening up.

See you tomorrow for some Ireland v Argentina and Scotland v Australia.

     Bye for now.

It was a massive performance from New Zealand, but this was a France team that clocked off early in the second half.

Remember the end of the Six Nations earlier this year? This is a France team that celebrated a 20-point defeat like a victory., external

The Springboks will be far less amenable.

If South Africa struggled against the offloading and quick recycling of Japan though....they have not seen anything yet.

New Zealand coach Steve Hansen:"It was a very, very pleasing performance. Everyone from 1-23 brought something to the game and it was nice to get a little monkey off our backs.

"We can't wait for the semi-finals, South Africa are a great team and we enjoy playing them."

Philippe Saint-Andre has been roundly booed here and copped a lot of flak. It's not the way he wanted to bow out. The new France coach Guy Noves faces a huge challenge. He will be trying to take control of the players and the structures."

If this result and performance does not serve as a wake up call for French rugby then nothing will."

That was wonderful to watch. New Zealand can't expect it to go their way every time but let's enjoy what was a tremendous performance. They won't be getting ahead of themselves because there's nothing South Africa like more than to hear how well one of their opponents have done ahead of playing them."

French fans started streaming towards the exits after 65 minutes and a stream soon turned into a torrent. This might be the best thing that could have happened to French rugby, because you simply can't ignore marmalisations such as this. The French - and their outdated rugby philosophy - have been utterly humiliated.

Ma'a Nonu scampers in surely for try number 10... NO!

The centre contrives to drop the ball over the line. Full credit for some excellent cover defence from Alex Dumoulin back in off the bench.
