  1. Argentina 9-19 Australiapublished at 39 mins

So close! Just one more pass to hand and the Pumas would be in... but it dribbles agonisingly to the floor.

It was a lovely shuffling, side-stepping break from Santiago Cordero - a neat offload to Juan Martin Hernandez - but El Mago is snared by Bernard Foley.

He flips the ball out towards Joaquin Tuculet. The full-back would have had a stroll in, but the ball is wide of his hands and to the deck.

Argentina are finishing the half well.

Marcelo Bosch makes yards. Leonardo Senatore rumbles on. They are up to the Aussie 22m.

Sin-bin period over as Argentina are restored to their full complement by the return of Tomas Lavanini from the sin-bin.

    Three minutes to half-time.

Prop Sekope Kepu encroaches at the line-out around halfway. Was there a bit of back-chat?

Wayne Barnes marches another 10 metres to bring it within range. Nicolas Sanchez pops it over to keep the Pumas just about in touch.

  5. Argentina 6-19 Australiapublished at 34 mins

It is defcon one for Argentina at the moment.

They are a man down and the Aussies are tearing strips off them in attack.

They have to batten down, make it to half-time and plot the revolution from there.

"They get the numbers on the left and then the money ball is a beauty from Giteau. It's the right ball but they had extra men everywhere. They work the overlap and then have the class to finish it off."

    Try - Ashley-Cooperpublished at 32 mins

Australia sniff the gap and ruthlessly exploit the under-staffed Argentina defence.

Matt Giteau slings a perfectly calibrated mis-pass wide and Adam Ashley-Cooper does not have to even break stride as he steams into the corner.

One silver lining for Argentina is Bernard Foley's horribly screwed conversion attempt.

Argentina lose another key man - this time to injury.

Captain and hooker Agustin Creevy is off and fresh-faced Julian Montoya is on.

Cheers from the Twickenham crowd who are fast massing behind Argentina.

The Aussies have infringed as they try and roll a maul around the front end of the line-out.

Scrum down Argentina. And Wayne Barnes upgrades that to a penalty as the Pumas turn the screw at the set-piece.

Argentina are winning that particular battle.

    Argentina 6-14 Australia

Every superlative in the dictionary has been used to describe the impact of Australian back-row pair Michael Hooper and David Pocock during this tournament. And here's why. Hooper is already leading the tackle count today with five, while Pocock - dubbed the thieving jackal of the Aussie pack - has already nabbed two turnovers.

  15. Argentina 6-14 Australiapublished at 27 mins

Australia have a kickable penalty, but they sense a chance to go for the jugular with the Pumas a key line-out forward down.

They go for the corner rather than the posts...

"No no no come on. Wayne Barnes, that is a pathetic decision. Absolutely ludicrous. This is a World Cup semi - not a park game. The fall out of that could be the end of this game as a spectacle."

  17. Sin-binpublished at 25 mins

Argentina second row Tomas Lavanini is off for a 10-minute sit-down.

I think he is a little unlucky. He has sent Israel Folau tumbling nose over toe by charging shoulder first into the Australia full-back's shins.

It looks dangerous, but the lock looked like he was trying to wrap the arm and was probably just thankful to make any contact at all with speedster Folau.

Argentina down to 14 and a big 10 minutes to come.

  18. Penalty - Sanchezpublished at 23 mins

    Argentina 6-14 Australia

    Over she blows.

Nicolas Sanchez strokes his kicks like Blofeld strokes his cat - with love, care and a hint of menace.

The gap is down to eight.

  19. Argentina 3-14 Australiapublished at 22 mins

    Take that Mario.

Argentina draw first blood at scrum time as Ramiro Herrera cleaves through James Slipper, popping his opposite number skywards.

Penalty Argentina and they are going to kick it...

    Jonathan Davies
Former Wales fly-half on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

"For the sake of the game we want an Argentina try. But for all their attacking options they haven't really threatened - apart from Bosch's break. It's two opportunities well taken by Australia and they look the most threatening with ball in hand."
