    Australia v Argentina (16:00 GMT)

Former England and Harlequins back Ugo Monye has snapped some Argentina fans making a tower out of a popular alcoholic Australian beverage.

Guess you can let your loyalties slip when there's beer involved, eh lads?

  2. Giteau's gameplaypublished at 14:56

    Argentina v Australia (16:00 GMT)

Ever wondered how the world's best players prepare for a big game? By replicating the match on an old-school computer game of course.

Earlier this week, Wallabies centre Matt Giteau dusted off his childhood console and fired up that 1990s classic 'Jonah Lomu Rugby'. Kids these days don't even know they are born...

However, Giteau did not reveal the final score in his own rehearsal of today's match. Maybe he was digging in like a demented mole*...

    * That was one of the random lines of commentary provided by Bill McLaren for those not familiar with the game

This is not even the first Argentine-Aussie sporting meeting of the day.

Over in Chile at the under-17 football World Cup the two nations clashed earlier.

The result was a 2-1 win for the Aussie underdogs. Read into that what you will.

  4. Bulldozered in Mendozapublished at 14:46

The good news for the Pumas?

One of those six wins was a little over a year ago when Argentina recovered from 14-0 down to win their first ever match in the Rugby Championship with a 21-17 win over the Wallabies in Mendoza

    The less good news?

The two teams met exactly three months ago, again in Mendoza. This time the Wallabies ran in four unanswered tries to record a 34-9 win.

The two teams seem to get on pretty well together. The two teams huddled up after that most recent result in a show of mutual respect.

The stats don't make good reading for the Pumas.

They have played Australia 24 times, winning on five occasions, drawing one and losing 18.

It's madness in Argentina right now. The country is mad about football but when the Rugby World Cup is played people turn from every background to watch. People are completely mad for this semi-final. During the tournament they have been celebrating before and after games... it's wonderful."

This is your 90 minute warning.

It is between 22:30ish Sunday night and 01:30ish Monday morning in the land of Oz.

Never mind missing brain, heart or courage, there will be some Aussies at work having done without their usual eight hours kip.

  9. Maradona in the house?published at 14:32

    Argentina v Australia (16:00 GMT)

    Oh, Augustin of little faith.

It looks like the Hand of God is gracing Twickenham's posh seats already, a full hour and a half before game time.

Maybe the lure of some quality buffet got the World Cup winner down to south-west London a little earlier than expected.

  10. Will Maradona be at Twickenham?published at 14:29

    Argentina v Australia (16:00 GMT)

Will Diego Maradona grace Twickenham with his presence?. The Argentina football legend was spotted cheering on his country's rugby heroes at Leicester City's ground when the Pumas overcame Tonga earlier this month.

I spoke to Diego on Wednesday. He was looking to see if he could make it to the semi-final. I know he had some meetings to attend but knowing him he'll probably arrive five minutes before kick-off and say 'Where are you? I want to go to the dressing room'."

Arm-in-arm embraces. Puffed-out chests. Quivering-lipped singing. And plenty of tears. Sounds like the funeral service of a lost loved one, but it was actually the scene at Cardiff last week when the Argentina players belted out their national anthem prior to their win over Ireland.

And the front page of Ole, an Argentine national daily sports newspaper, is encouraging the entire country to clear their throats and blast out their national ditty today.

"We sing together!" screams the headline. (That Spanish GCSE proves useful at times like this.)

    Australia v Argentina (16:00 GMT)

It is not just the BBC Radio 5 live guys who are setting out their stall early doors for this one.

The strictly unofficial merchandise vendors have been on site at England Rugby HQ since early morning.

For two-time champions, five-time semi-finallists Australia this is all a little old hat.

For Argentina, who have reached this stage just once before and never been beyond it, this is the sort of day to mark with a new scarf.

Yesterday, Twickenham reverberated like a sheet metal works.

Two of the game's superpowers bashed lumps out of each other, fighting tooth, nail and elbow over a disputed territory of just a few points.

Today - after New Zealand's 20-18 win over South Africa - expect something less industrial.

Argentina v Australia is more light sabre than cudgel, brain rather than brawn, an afternoon of polishing diamonds rather than shoving coal.

Make yourself comfy, I think you are going to enjoy this one.
