That was a decent first half.

Wasps showing their ability to strike with a incisive backline, powerful back and sniping halves.

However London Irish got themselves on the board with a well-worked try at the end of the half and had Chris Noakes' place kicking been sharper they might have led.

Certainly don't look like a team stuck down the bottom end of the table.

  3. try

    Well, well, well.

London Irish show some pace and skill to get Johnny Williams in on the left to end the half on a high.

Alex Lewington's cutting run almost had them over but he was stopped, and then the ball went right to Blair Cowan who was also held up.

Williams made sure, but the kick was missed to keep the gap at three points going into the break.

Wasps punish London Irish indiscipline with a try from Frank Halai in the corner.

Twice the Exiles went off the feet at the ruck but despite the penalty coming, Wasps kept hammering away and a smart pass from Joe Simpson from the base got Halai in so much space to dive over.

    Conversion missed.

On the big screen London Irish head coach Tom Coventry is looking slightly unimpressed with that missed penalty - though it's hard to tell with Tom, as he tends to have that expression most of the time.

Irish were unable to get the points that good scrummaging deserved.

  6. Missed penalty (Noakes)published at 34 mins

    Spoke too soon.

Looked relatively routine but Chris Noakes is unable to find the target and the gap remains three points.

  7. London Irish 3-6 Waspspublished at 33 mins

London Irish win a penalty from the scrum against the head.

Wasps pull the scrum down and it's a chance for Chris Noakes perhaps to drill home the three.

  8. London Irish 3-6 Waspspublished at 31 mins

London Irish looking to sweep the ball wide and stretch the Wasps defence, moving it from left to right and back again.

Up to the 22 they go with Blair Cowan... Chris Noakes almost poking his nose through but the ball is knocked on.

Play brought back for a Wasps scrum. Credit to the Exiles, who are giving a bit of high-risk rugby a whirl.

For the record, that makes this year's London double header the most poorly attended since 2007, when 39,400 fans were inside Twickenham.

Few handling errors creeping in here.

It has been a soggy afternoon all round it seems.

  11. London Irish 3-6 Waspspublished at 27 mins

Wasps half-backs Joe Simpson and Ruaridh Jackson are sniping away and whipping that ball around neatly. If they can get that backline in the game then tries will follow.

London Irish have really got through some work defensively. Alex Lewington's pace and eye for a gap will be key to their exit strategy alongside Chris Noakes' kicking game.

Charles Piutau barrels up the middle for Wasps on the back of a London Irish box-kick.

James Haskell tries to take in Ruaridh Jackson's round-the-corner pass but it goes forward.

Nathan Hughes with a touch of butterfingers here...

Sailosa Tagicakibau slips him an offload but with the line beckoning Topsy Ojo's little fingertip touch forces the error.

    Wasps unlucky, Irish inspired.

  14. London Irish 3-6 Waspspublished at 24 mins

Nathan Hughes loses the ball in contact, after Wasps has moved it from left to right and back again looking for the angle to attack.

Chris Noakes gets his exit kick away but it sails into touch and Wasps have another line-out in a dangerous position.

  15. London Irish 3-6 Waspspublished at 22 mins

Wasps enjoying a bit of scrum dominance now and gain a penalty from that position.

Clubbed to touch, line-out on the 22.

  16. London Irish 3-6 Waspspublished at 20 mins

Alex Lewington is growing into this game nicely for London Irish.

The winger looks so dangerous in broken field and only a crucial tackle from Frank Halai took him into touch a moment ago as he raced through the gears.

  17. Penalty (Jackson)published at 18 mins

    Strong defence from the Exiles.

  20. Missed penalty (Jackson)published at 13 mins

    London Irish 3-3 Wasps

Ruaridh Jackson won't want to see that replay again. He pulls his penalty attempt wide of the uprights.

Wasps have ball back in midfield though and London Irish again in defensive mode.
