Franks, 31, has 47 appearances in the All-Black jersey to his name and arrives in the Premiership after a career spent in the elite Super 15s with the Hurricanes and Crusaders.
"I've never played anything other than a Test at Twickenham, so that's going to be exciting," he told BBC Sport.

And that is the game. Saracens put in a clinical display and scored some brilliant tries as they crossed the whitewash six times.
Worcester come away from their debut at Twickenham with two consolation tries for their fans to cheer, but Sarries were dominant in the second half.
