"Eddie Jones and Dylan Hartley talked beforehand about winning this game. At times, they were all over the place, but they dominated the last 10 minutes when they needed to do that. England were never going to be totally coherent. Scotland looked the better team because they've been together longer. But England got the right result."

"England deserved to win it. They played well in the second half. Scoptland needed to score early in the second half and didn't, and they just lost the momentum. That was not a dismal Scottish performance. They were outgunned by a very determined English team. Billy Vunipola was deservedly named man of the match."

Never mind the small print, it was all about the big 'W' for England.

They came, saw and conquered on a classic cross-border raid.

Scotland have come up short again - more promise goes unfulfilled.

"Man of the match is Billy Vunipola. He's been an outstanding figure today. He's defended well but his carries at times have been phenomenal. He has been head and shoulders above the rest of the field."

Marcus Adams: How to be picked for Scotland: Drop the ball in a promising attack instead of holding it into contact.

Deutsch Mikey: Owen Farrell has been great. Dylan Hartley can be pleased with himself too.

Matthew Taylor: Lancaster would have won the 6 nations comfortably. This is terrible from England, big step back.

George is on to replace Hartley.

    Knock-on.

David Denton forces the off-load when it was not really on and that might be Scotland's chances down the gurgler.

Scrum down England and they are in no rush to get on with it.

The match simmers over for the first time.

Owen Farrell shoves Greig Laidlaw as the Scotland skipper attempts to shepherd the ball out of play near his own corner flag, sparking some push and shove.

End result is a penalty for Scotland - for Farrell playing the man without the ball - and no cards.

It lets the Scots off the hook and was not Farrell's brightest moment.
