"You could drive a bus through the gap in the Italy defence. A good dummy run from Jamie Roberts, Haimona was dragged in and it was a great finish. George North had a lot to do, but he came off his left foot and just accelerated."

Jamie Roberts' dummy run up the middle sucks in a posse of Italy defenders, leaving a yawning gap for the fleet feet of George North.

The Wales winger charges through, steps off his left to leave Luke McLean flounders and is in just by the posts.

Fine try and Dan Biggar adds the interest payment off the tee.

"The Italian defence did very well to keep the shape there but good composure from Wales. What I thought was very pleasing was how the ball was offloaded out of the contact area."

    Jonathan Davies

"Great patience from Wales, they recycled a lot of slow balls but they carried on and eventually a lovely ball from George North who released Jamie Roberts on the outside and it was an easy finish.

"They sucked Luke McLean in and Italy were out-numbered."

  8. 'Well worked try'published at 15:37 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2016

"Well worked try there from Wales. They kept on building, grinding the Italians down. In the end Jamie Roberts thinks bang I am going in. Good try and good work there from the team."

Wales eventually wear the Italy defence down to dust.

George North darts outside Gonzalo Garcia, draws Luke McLean and feeds Jamie Roberts out the back of his hand.

Roberts chugs into the corner like a freight train and Biggar fails to land the extras from out wide.

Wales rack up 13 phases. Jamie Roberts punches in close to up the tempo.

Still 15 to go. Italy clinging on.

Bradley Davies pops up on the wing and lacks the pace to exploit the space.

"Wales finally produce a first-half display to cheer their fans - in parts. But Italy look like a team missing a number of key players and out of their depth.

"But the handling errors that have dogged Warren Gatland's team throughout this tournament are still in evidence, which is the one piece of good news for an over-matched Italian team.

"If Wales can reproduce the accuracy that led to Jonathan Davies' try, then it might be a very long second half for Sergio Parisse and company."

"The only thing salvaging some pride for Italy is their commitment in the tackle."
