    This is not too clever.

Justin Tipuric is hoisted up by his lifters as he attempts to nick some Italy line-out ball, but doesn't get the aftersales care that he would like.

Wales' open-side is tipped bottom-over-bosom and lands shoulder first on the Cardiff turf from a heck of a height.

He is off for a 10-minute head inspection. Ross Moriarty is on to fill in.

"Wales are 10 points clear and just need to keep scoring and keep the scoreboard ticking over. Italy need to keep the ball better."

    This is all quite fun.

Dan Biggar puts up a perfect high ball and claims as he breaks stride just to soar skywards and over the Italian catcher.

Italy turnover possession. Hand it straight back. George North is smeared in the tackle by Francesco Minto. Ouumph.

But play is called back for a Wales penalty. Very kickable and Biggar calls for the tee...

  6. Wales 7-0 Italypublished at 11 mins

Italy's basics let them down as they fluff their line-out lines and then engage early at the resulting scrum to hand Wales a get-out-of-22-free card.

The next scrum is not much better as the Azzurri are pinged for pushing early. It is going to be a long afternoon if they can't get the strongest bit of their game right.

  7. Wales 7-0 Italypublished at 8 mins

Italy are playing happy-go-lucky hell-for-leather rugby.

Leonardo Sarto makes a break up the line and is pulled down just inside the Wales 22m. Italy have the penalty, but captain Sergio instructs Tommaso Allan to kick into the corner rather than take the points.

  8. 'Great finish'published at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2016

"A great finish by Rhys Webb. He is a tremendous player, one opportunity, but the referee was in the way a bit there."

    Welcome back Rhys Webb.

The returning Wales scrum-half at his sniping best, worming through a gap around the Italian shins to make it over the final five yards after a safe take by Luke Charteris in the line-out.

Dan Biggar clips over the extras.

  10. Wales 0-0 Italypublished at 4 mins

Jamie Roberts comes charging onto a flat ball, steam snorting out of his nostrils, and bounces Andrea Pratichetti downfield.

Chip over the top, David Odiete tidies up but at the expense of a line-out five from the Italy line...

Tommy Allan gets us going and Liam Williams takes cleanly before crawling a couple of sneaky yards on the deck.

Dan Biggar with a good take out of the sky. George North on a rumble down one wing.

Hallam Amos tries similar on the other but runs into a bulldozer hit from Leonardo Sarto.

Plenty of feist and fury in the opening exchanges.

    Wales v Italy (14:30 GMT)

    Richard Williams
BBC Sport Wales at Principality Stadium

"Wales' displays in this tournament have received a cool reception from critics and fans on this side of Offa's Dyke.

"Fly-half Dan Biggar claimed the team were being criticised even when they win.

"Today against Italy, Wales will be expected to win in style by the red contingent in the ground. But history suggest they might have to be patient. At half-time in the record 61-20 win in Rome last season Wales led 14-13.

"The patience of the players may not be matched by the home crowd."

  16. Relegation from the Six Nations?published at 14:24

    Wales v Italy (14:30 GMT)

Italy are guaranteed to finish bottom of the Six Nations, and there have been questions asked whether there should be promotion and relegation in the competition.

But Italy team manager Carlo Checchinato is completely against this.

He tells BBC One: "I don't understand the reasons why we talk about this. From 2011 to 2015, Italy won five out of 25 matches and Scotland won four of 25.

"Italy is one of the six and deserves to be in. I don't see any reason for this issue, it makes no sense.

"We have to look at how we can be a more competitive side."

  17. 'A chance for redemption'published at 14:22

Wales coach Warren Gatland says: "We just didn't turn up for the first 60 minutes last week and then were fantastic for 20 minutes. But this is a chance for the players to redeem themselves.

"We've put any issues behind us and in fairness to the players they have been fantastic this week.

"As coaches we've been asking what we could have done differently and we had a pretty honest assessment. We outscored England 3-1 in tries and lost the game so that is disappointing."

    Wales v Italy (14:30 GMT)

    Martyn Williams
Former Wales captain on BBC One

"It is going to be a very difficult day for Italy against a Wales side that want to put things right.

"They are back at home and want to finish with a bang after a very poor performance against England."
