  1. 'Wales have been patient'published at 15:14 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2016

    Wales 27-0 Italy

    Jonathan Davies
Former dual code international on BBC One

"Italy have to catch-and-drive, catch-and-drive, catch-and-drive. That is their best hope of keeping the score down.

"They know they are not going to win this game by kicking penalties. Wales have been patient and taken their opportunities.

"Italy base their game on the forward pack but they just don't have enough quality at nine and 10 to win games."

  2. Wales 27-0 Italypublished at 38 mins

Italy are finishing the half up by the Wales whitewash. But the clock is running down fast with referee Romain Poite picking nits at scrum-time...

  3. Watch: Biggar finishes off Wales's classy second trypublished at 15:12 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2016

Wales had been failing to take their chances but when Dan Biggar and Jamie Roberts combined, Italy were cut asunder to make it 20-0.

  4. Wales 27-0 Italypublished at 35 mins

After holding out for 13-0 when they were a man down, Italy have disintegrated.

Not just on the scoreboard either.

Centre Andrea Pratichetti and wing Mattia Bellini have both come off injured. Luke McLean and Kelly Haimona are on, but it is a hotch-potch of a backline now.

"This came from Italy losing possession and Wales were away. They had good inside support and it was a good give-and-take."

"World class interplay there really. Great handling and it gives North the outside space. Davies still had a lot to do but he has got too much wheels."

That is more what the home crowd have packed the rafters for.

Wales counter from deep, spinning wide to George North. Italy are falling off tackles and Wales support runners are there in numbers.

A lethal combination and Jonathan Davies trots under the crossbar to score.

    Biggar stubs over the kick.

Italy back up a full complement but their defence crumbles straight away.

Dan Biggar - not a noted running fly-half - strides through some paper-bag tackling, offloads to Jamie Roberts who returns the favour to draw the last man and send the number 10 under the sticks.

    Conversion is a formality.

"Italy are a man short, most of the play has been in their half but they have only conceded one try.

"Wales will be disappointed with their attacking. If Italy are to hang on they have to get the set-pieces right."

  11. Wales 13-0 Italypublished at 27 mins

It is like that World Cup Pool game against Australia with smaller stakes and lesser opposition.

Wales fail to make their extra man count as they sling wide... but straight out of play.

    But Italy's line-out is spluttering.

Taulupe Faletau steals and they are penned back in their own 22m once more...

  13. Wales 13-0 Italypublished at 25 mins

Wales have had 71% according to the stats bods. Italy are going to eat into that a little as Rob Evans is penalised for pulling a scrum south.

Just three minutes of Wales' power play remaining before scrum-half Guglielmo Palazzani returns.

Justin Tipuric will not be re-joining the fray. Ross Moriarty is on for the long haul.

  16. 'Speechless'published at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2016

    Wales 13-0 Italy

    Jonathan Davies
Former dual code international on BBC One

"I can't believe Wales went for three points then. I'm speechless. I would say 'hang on a minute'. You have a scrum underneath the posts with an extra man.

"Their scrum-half is off and, as a back, I would be saying 'I want a scrum here'."

  17. Penalty - Wales 13-0 Italypublished at 20 mins

    Strange.

With Italy a man down and deep in their own 22m, Wales should be picking limbs off the visitors.

Instead they opt to kick a penalty rather than run it or take the scrum.

The Principality Stadium reacts with quiet bemusement. Dan Biggar sticks it over.

Andrew Priestley: Italy's back-row of (6) Minto, (7) Zanni and (8) Parisse are excellent, but the rest of the Italian team are so poor.

  19. Wales 10-0 Italypublished at 17 mins

David Odiete attempts to run the ball out from under his own sticks, but is scooped up by the chasing George North and dumped over his own dead-ball line.

Scrum five Wales and to add to Italy's woes scrum-half Guglielmo Palazzani is dispatched to the bin for a nothing-much bit of offside.

This could get ugly for the visitors.

  20. 'Moriarty is your real grunt'published at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2016

    Wales 10-0 Italy

    Jonathan Davies
Former dual code international on BBC One

"Justin Tipuric just fell awkwardly and came down on his shoulder. I think he will be all right.

"Tipuric is an open-side, classic back-rower, but Ross Moriarty is your real grunt - a really hard working player and he will be very effective. He could carry the ball very well."
